Salt for Life Sea Salt Plus Potassium Blend, 15.2 Ounce

I recently purchased a bottle of this for I liked the idea of a good quality sea salt and salt substitute blend. Even though this uses the same potassium chloride that most all substitutes do, its a little better tasting with the quality sea salt thrown in. Make no mistake about it though, this is still a substitute and carries the same slight bitterness that all of them do that I have ever tried. There are just so many ways that you can disguise potassium chloride and its after taste. But this blend does just about as good a job as any, and, it really is quality salt in there that can be tasted and makes a big difference. Also, this is truly a very fine blend. Much finer than regular table salt. It easily covers your food white giving one the impression you are loading on the salt where in reality you are actually getting far less sodium. I have had to explain that to others that see me salting my food and expression some horror at the amount it appears. The price on it is a little hefty, but for the quality you receive its worth it to me... About the only thing one should keep in mind with this is that just like with most sea salt blends, this does not provide iodine. Iodine is a very necessary and important supplement that is added to most table salt, but its not listed here. If you use this on a partial basis along with regular iodized salt, you will be ok. But if you use this exclusively, you should consider an iodine supplement. Other than that, this is a fine tasting, much healthier alternative to regular salt, and, a cut above most substitutes as well...

I've been using this product for several years, ever since I first received (unsolicited) samples in the mail (being a Registered Dietitian). I was so glad to be able to order it online because I couldn't find it in the stores after a while. It adds tasty balance to well-seasoned dishes without adding traditional table salt. I like that I can build a flavor profile then finish it off with a touch of this product so the salty notes aren't completely missing. Have recommended to others who discover they must moderate their sodium intake!

Doesn't seem to dissolve like I thought but tasted great

My mom is on a low sodium diet yet loves her salt so we looked for a substitute. We tried them all and most were poor substitutes. This brand is her favorite and has become our house salt. It is also a finer grind than table salt (like McD's salt packets) and blends/mixes easily. My only issue is with the packaging/shaker which has really large holes making it difficult to apply just a small amount.

Going on a low sodium diet can be difficult; however, Salt for Life makes my diet so much easier and is helping me have great results in my efforts to lower my blood pressure. This is a great product and I highly recommend it for those wishing to lower sodium and still be able to enjoy seasoning their food!

After searching and trying many salt substitutes.... this one works for me. This really adds to the flavor of foods while eating. Makes meals less bland, which has been killing my tastes buds with all the lackluster tasting entrees. A 1/4 teaspoon serving has 140 mg sodium and 180 potassium. Light and flaky, I could instantly tell the difference. When I first started using it, after dinner I did notice a slight lingering aftertaste. However I can live with that, because that aftertaste wasn't there during my meal. It seems to have lessened since the first couple of days of use. We haven't tried cooking with it, I just have been adding to completed meals. Why not 5 stars... well it's not completely sodium free, but if there was a 1/2 star it would definitely be 4 1/2 for me.
