I am super impressed with this Responsive YoYo! It easily holds up against much higher-priced brands, making it economical as a carry-around or even as a giveaway to kids to get them into the hobby. For the price, it really can't be beaten. The performance is phenomenal for an inexpensive plastic yo-yo with caps. It is responsive and returns to your hand on tug, with a slim-type bearing, which usually has limitations, but this one has been amazing. I'm able to easily do fixed axle tricks, traditional classic tricks, and even modern responsive string tricks with ease. The spin times are great and it comes with extra string and replacement pads if ever needed. All in all, as much as I can't believe it, this will probably be one of my go-to yoyos for when I'm out and about because I know it's reliable, and if something ever happens to it or I pass it on to someone wanting to learn, I can easily get a replacement for a great price.

This review is a little tough for me to write because based off my purchase, I am completely happy with my Yoyo. The quality is good and it perfectly fits the needs I wanted. I wanted I Yoyo I could sleep well and do fairly basic tricks with. Something that was better than a stock Duncan at the same price range. It does that. I can make it sleep for nearly 45 seconds on my best throws. I can do a ton of tricks that were already in my arsenal, and I'm getting to learn a bunch more thanks to the glories of YouTube tutorials.The only reason why I'm knocking off a star is for this. I suggested this brand to my colleague and he got the same Yoyo, but the green version. The Yoyo he got was incredibly lopsided in it's spin. I felt bad. I know it was only like $18 with shipping (yes, I'm not a Prime Member), but the shock in difference of quality was insane. Even his strings were a poorer quality. And I just can understand why.All that said, I'm hoping that his purchases was just a one off and unfortunate anomaly. My Yoyo is great. The paper inside the plastic case is slightly bent, but not too noticeable. So not dinging anything there. I'm generally very pleased with my purchase. Wish I could say the same for my friends.

I would consider myself a beginner even though I have thrown yo-yo's for many years. I always had yo-yo's as a kid but never was any good with them. I recently got a couple dollar store yo-yo's for my son and myself and we had fun with them, but when we started watching trick videos even the beginner one's were very hard. After a month of practicing with (what I now know) were trash yo-yo's, my son and I got one of these Merlin's and a Fireball. This yo-yo is amazing! Right out of the box, on my first throw I pulled off a perfect walk the dog :)This yo-yo is like cheating.. I am already working on my 5th trick. All the ones I wanted to do as a kid I can finally do. My son ended up liking this Merlin better than the Fireball he got, but they are both a lot of fun. This Merlin is just so smooth and easy to control, it is amazing what a difference it is between every other yo-yo I have ever tried before.Pros- Super smooth action, completely responsive.. just a flick of my finger and It returns, super long spins! I can even do the old rock the baby and return it.. it spins forever. Solid construction, very well put together, came with extra strings and extra silicon rings.Cons-none that I can seeAt this price you can't go wrong ordering one of these Merlin yo-yo's, I enjoyed yo-yo'ing but this yo-yo has made it 1000 times more fun. I took it to work today and practiced at lunch, lol.. too fun to leave home.

Have been looking for a decent intermediate level yo-yo for a while and decided to go with this one. It came with three strings and 2 what I can only best describe and flexible o rings though not sure what they are actually called. The yo-yo works great and sleeps really well and is easy to untangle when you really screw up a trick your learning. Really the only two minor changes I would make to switch it from a 4 star to a 5 star review is adding one or two pictures to the instructions to make it more clear how to attatch a new string to the yo-yo for people who have never attatched a string before or not in over a decade and forgot how, because while the wording on the instructions do a good job, if you just glance at the instructions because of the first picture being putting the string on your finger and the second picture being the final step of putting the string on the yo-yo you could easily misinterpret the pictures to where you put on the string wrong and it becomes a beginner level yo-yo that can not sleep as a pose to intermediate level one. While I did eventually figure it out, because of the pictures the installing of the string could confuse those just learning who have not changed a string (or in my case not changed on in over a decade) before.The only other change I would make, isn't to the product itself but the Amazon page, have it have two options "Yo-yo King Merlin Blue narrow C bearing" and "Yo-yo King Merlin BlueNarrow and Wide C bearing" to make it easier for someone who is maybe looking for an intermediate yo-yo but wants to be able to change it to an advanced yo-yo as their skills improve... Looking at the instructions given with the product it does look like they offer that as an option, just the Amazon page doesn't show that so I would have never known they have that as a option.All in all, while there are better yo-yos for beginners, I would honestly say that this yo-yo can really handle fairly beginner, as well as intermediate and advanced. The shape feels good to throw, Its got a decent weight to it, easy to take apart and untangle, all in all it's a yo-yo that if your looking for something to learn with is really well made.

Right out of the box it’s not very impressive probably cause the bearings were dry but after applying a small amount of thin yo-yo lube it was an awesome fun toy that can sleep for quite a while and still come back allowing for a good bit of tricks before having to bind back up. Overall I’m happy with my purchase for 15$ I didn’t except to have this much fun lolEdit: after less than 2 days of use the response pads have stretched and won’t fit back into the groves so new ones are needed already. I’m not sure if it’s cause they don’t use any kind of adhesive or the heat or what but the fact that I haven’t even had it a week and already had to use the replacement pads that also don’t come with any adhesive really kills the product for me. I was lead to believe response pads last until worn, well not in this yo-yo unfortunately maybe some better pads would make it better but as of now I’m knocking down 2 stars since I know these pads won’t last long either so I’ll have to get my own replacements which I don’t really want to id rather just send this junk back with the worn pads and let them deal with it. I shouldn’t have to replace a part within a week of use smh.

I am a 42 year old child that loves yo-yo's. I am not a pro more like a life long beginner to intermediate yo-yo'er at best. I do the basics like round the world, rock the cradle, and man on the flying trapeze. This Yo-Yo King MERLIN is pretty nice for my skill level it has a decent weight to get a good sleep and responds well without being overly responsive and without breaking your hand when it returns. It also has a good shape that fits well in my hand and is easy to land on the string. It feels pretty sturdy and well made with a good balance "does not vibrate" while sleeping. Put a drop of good yo-yo thin lube on the bearing and it will sleep for days! I have many yo-yo's "Duncan's, Yomega's, Magic Yo's" of all models and I like like them all but I think this Yo-Yo King MERLIN will be my carry around every day yo-yo and for $10 its a steal for a nice bearing yo-yo.... Great product and will buy again...

10 yr old son LOVES it!

At first I was a little disappointed when got it. I had been using a beginner YoYo and it was much more responsive. But because this one is less responsive I can do more tricks. I’ve been using it for a few weeks and I’m quite happy with it now that I know how to use it.

It was fun and enjoyable!

I know the ball bearings make this expensive but I found it expensive for the final product that arrived. It's made from China.
