SHIMANOTL-FC35 Crank Arm Installation Tool

Note that this tool is NOT needed for crank set installation. It is used for REMOVAL of the Shimano XTR FC-M970 crank set.The TL-FC35 crank arm tool made getting the non-drive side crank arm off a snap... in fact, I'm not sure how one would safely get the arm off the hollow crank axle (spindle?) without the tool. I mean, I can imagine ways to get the arm off, but all of them would likely damage the crank arm and/or the axle.The other tool you will need for crank removal as mentioned in another review is an 8mm hex head (allen) wrench. There are detailed write-ups online for use of this tool. I assume if you are looking for this tool you've already searched the internet for the procedure, so I'll refrain from repeating here.

Shimano TL-FC35 Crank Arm Installation Tool is a difficult tool to find on a bycicle shop, near me, so if you can have your own, will be good if the mechanic needs to use.

A beautiful, elegant, single-use tool. It is absolutely necessary to take the crank arm off the XTR crank I have. It works perfectly well. The one disadvantage is, another bike tool that works only with one special model of a part.

It is a well designed tool and you risk damage if you tap out the lock ring instead of using the tool. Pity it only fits one model of crank.

The TL FC35 makes removing XTR cranks a simple job. No damage to my crank arm or frame. It requires and 8mm hex wrench. Easy to use for crank removal. Crank arms were removed to replace all 3 chain rings.

Works great with XTR cranks. does the job. Really expensive or over priced in my book for something that cost $2 to make.

it was just the tool I needed to remove the plastic bit around my crank bolt. my crankset is now back in place good as new. thanks!
