Amazing Device!!! Works Wonders
Wow!!This device has got to be the steal of my life for me.The build quality is great , doesn't look cheap at all but really slick. I was a bit skeptical ,I didn't want to believe that something so small could work so much wonders for such a low price. Setting up the device was really easy and didn't take up to 10 minutes If u follow the easy 2 use instructions. I used the second option because the WPS button option didn't work for me. Its hard to believe, but I am actually using this device to extend wifi from another building close by into my apartment. It is actually working across buildings , not even rooms. The performance is really good even though the indicator on the device only has 2 bars. I can still stream Netflix and watch videos easily. I am impressed Tp link, u guys have made a great product. I will certainly recommend this to everyone. Thanks

Very easy setup but requires constant restart
Very easy to setup, but needs constant restarting (unplug wait for 30 seconds and plug back in). I had this product for over six months. Initially, I had to restart it every few weeks but now it is pretty much every day. It works great after a restart, but after a day the signal is great but there is not internet connection.

Try using a different ssid
I have not previously posted a review as I always found that what I have to say is already covered by others. In this case, I feel that my specific experience might be useful to others. I was about to return this after an hour struggling to make it work. I tried to update the firmware but the zip file from manufacturer's website were, according to my computer, corrupted. Anyway, my problems were resolved when I picked a customized SSID for the range extender. Giving it the same ssid as the wifi router made the router crash. Given the low price and the fact that it does work well, I'm giving this 4 stars. It's only been a couple of hours, though. I'll revise the rating later if things change.

Second unit didn't work either, bad product
I love the aesthetics of this device. It's just plain cool looking. I like the blue lights that serve as a nightlight in my hallway. Having said that, the first unit I bought was defective. I purchased the first one from newegg's ebay store, and because their turnaround time to rma the unit and get a functional unit to me is like 10 days, I just returned that one for a refund and ordered the replacement from amazon so I have it in two days. This is why I'm giving TP Link another chance. They tried to make it right. I had the unit plugged in and it worked for about three days, then it just disconnected. When it was working, it was still spotty. I'd be watching netflix and it would stop and reload about every 30 minutes so I knew something was wrong. WPS never worked on the unit (red flag). I called TP Link customer service and tried for about an hour to get to the webpage by plugging the ethernet into the unit, but I couldn't pull up the page, so the rep said it was defective. TP Link gave me an RMA number and said a rep would email me the next day with mailing instructions. They did. Because they followed through and because I spoke to a live person in tech support at 2am, I'm willing to give them another shot. I don't like that TP Link makes you pay to ship the item back to them when it's defective.........but I returned to Newegg who doesn't charge shipping for defective products so no harm there. I will update the review if the replacement works. Bottom line.......the company seems to care, and customer service is a huge deal to me.UPDATE: January 9, 2013.............Second Unit Does Not Work EitherI got the replacement from Amazon. Same thing. WPS button didn't work with either my western digital mynet n750 or Netgear WNDR3700 routers. In addition, not only would this repeater just stop working, it would literally shut down the 2.4ghz on both routers. It simply would not broadcast and I'd have to reset the routers. I spent 2 hours on the phone with TP-Link customer support. They are nice but essentially are reading from some kind of book, not very flexible or good out of the box thinking going on in Asia. Was told they couldn't help with router setting because it wasn't a TP-Link router? I'm pretty sure the settings are the same for most routers. But whatever. First thing I did was update the firmware, and that did nothing. I tried to put both the extender and router on the same channel. Tried lowering the security on both to WEP, tried static ip address, tried lowering the power output of the repeater. I'm about as tech savvy as babboon, but I learned a lot trying to make this thing work. Nothing worked. Just appears to be a bad design. Not sure if all those positive reviews were premature or what, but I've tried two of these units and neither worked for me. I have Time Warner Cable, mainstream routers........nothing unusual here, it should work. Sending back as defective for a refund. Hope your luck is better but I can't recommend it. One star.

Looks great..It did not work for me
The setup was pretty easy. However, performance was bad. We move in all different positions around the house without any increase in wifi signal.I did work if placed very close to the router, but we don't need it there. Maybe the design of our house, many walls between rooms, is not the ideal design for this technology.Looks like a great idea with an attractive package but did not work for me.

Easy Setup - You May Need to Adjust Router Setting to Take Full Advantage
I bought two of these and they have really helped. I now have excellent connectivity where I had low to none. I work outside behind my garage and wanted the additional coverage. I now have excellent connectivity where I had low to none. Super easy setup and then becomes transparent (your devices don't see it separately from the wifi router). I had some of the problems mentioned in other reviews here, drop outs, having to reset the extender, etc. This is not a problem with the extender, but the main wifi router set up.Some solutions: if you are using only new devices, set your wifi router to the "N" protocol only. However, if you are like me and use some legacy devices, you will need to do some small adjustments. The one that worked for me was to change my WEP settings to TKIP & AES from AES only. This is a downgrade in security, but I live in a rural area and am not too worried about that. You will have to decide if that is worth it to you. Any sort of password discourages all but the most determined hackers anyway. This change also fixed another problem with connecting with the Samsung Galaxy 4S. It would constantly lose its connection. This change eliminated that problem. Great product for a modest price.

Completely satisfied
Our house is small, but even so the WiFi signal was cut almost 3/4 from one end to the other. Took a little experimenting with the best place to place the booster but the operation is simple and it works as advertised. Even through walls and bookshelves, I'm now getting full WiFi from back to front of house. Not hugely expense and easy to set-up. Why look further?
