WD is one of the best hard drives I’ve ever used. The data transfer speed is fast, it’s made of sturdy material and it’s an easy play and play device.

I like the size of the drive and it's speed works well. I could have purchased a solid state drive, instead of a hard disk drive, but solid state is much more costly, and I just can't justify the higher cost for the same functionality. Instead, I do backups at night while I'm resting.

This is exactly what I needed to be able to hold the files for my 3D printers, laser engraver and tabletop cnc machine.One laptop, 4 machines, the right amount of storage space to be able to unzip all my files (2.5TB) and still have room to get more.

I purchased one of these drives years ago for storing various files and it got tons of use... and then a few months ago, our power went out unexpectedly and the drive files seemed lost. I immediately purchased another because it had worked really well before and I figured it must have been a bad outage. After all, the drive had been through other outages before. While the new drive was on the way, however, I found a free program online that allows you to try and recover files (one folder at a time, unless you have the cash to support the developers and get the plus package - which I didn't). Even though we thought the first drive was lost, I was able to recover all the files with this program and also fix the drive itself without reformatting. So now the new drive is our backup and we're still using the first one.Too long, didn't read? One lasted me for years and was recovered via software when it quit working.If you're looking for a good drive that will last, get one of these.

I’ve been using the WD 4TB My Passport portable external hard drive for about a month now and so far it’s been working exactly as advertised. Setup was quick and simple. I like the compact size and that it’s powered through USB, so it’s easy to toss in my bag and use with my laptop on the go. I haven’t had any reliability issues yet, though it’s still early days, so I’m cautiously optimistic this will be a dependable long-term backup solution.

I have had 2 units. The first unit would not install on my computer. I returned it thru Amazon and had the replacement in 2 days. The newest unit installed perfectly! There are very few instructions to come with it but are a great many legal information(s). Use the website and the support section for most of your information. It was a good buy for the money, runs cooly, has a lot of flexibility and is small in size. It comes preformatted but that is changeable.

My new backup drive. Seems to work well. I was too low on space on my 2t m2 drive so I loaded some games on this and play them from this drive. In my experience, some of the modern games require the ultra fast speed of an m2 drive. But many will play from this drive without noticable lag.Also, all my restore points are on this drive. It has not let me down yet.
