how is this bayonet? (you have to push and twist) so how do you take a reading?

I am not sure what 'bayonet' they are referring to. The head just pushes onto the tyre valve in the same way as any air hose. I don't use the gauge as I never think this type is accurate. I measure the tyre with a proper tyre gauge. I did find that the air hose fitting did not fit my compressor hose, but that is easy to change. I am happy with this tool - I just changed the air hose fitting. Hope this helps
