Amazing product and such great customer care
Amazing product and such great customer care. The product completely transformed the appearance of my faux leather boots which were peeling. You can see the before and after pictures. Itโs absolutely seamless! The product instructions are so easy to follow and detailed, and they provide you an email address for extra guidance as needed, which is so thoughtful! The premade colors already matched my product perfectly, but they give you instructions and even personalized guidance on achieving a close color match. More than enough product comes in, which allows for many projects (depending on the size of each). Overall I enjoyed a lot this product, because of the practicality, quality, and customer care involved. We need more brands like this, that actually care for the customerโs experience.

Does a good job, but hard to tell at first
This is my first time using a leather repair kit and I have to say, I'm pretty happy with this. It comes with many variations of brown and pretty much all the tools you need. The only tool it's missing is an item specifically meant to mix the different colors, and while it would be convenient to have, it isn't too bad that it's missing. So it's pretty easy to use and the concept is simple enough to understand, but there is one issue. You're supposed to mix colors to match exactly what you need and they give you a sheet that shows mixing results, and that's great, but it's really hard to tell if you have the right color. When I applied the filling it honestly looked like the color was off. Only about a half day later was I able to tell that the color was perfect and that's a bit too long to wait in order to find out if you have the right color or not because at that point, you're stuck with what you used. Another issue is that you're supposed to dab the area with a paper towel after using the filling to remove the excess filling, but that will end up removing the necessary filling as well. I ended up letting it dry for like 30 minutes before wiping off the excess with a wet paper towel. This method ended up giving me really great results so I guess it works. One more issue is something that really pertains to me mainly. To feel like I have enough filler to work with, I feel like I have to really squeeze out a lot of the filler from the tube into the mixing cup. It's not a big deal, but for me it feels like a waste if I end up getting the color wrong. Other than the issues listed above, this kit is really good. It makes it look like there were almost no tears in the leather. That being said, the leather I was working on only had surface tears and nothing deep. I highly recommend this kit for anyone who has light wear and tear at least.

WORKED GREAT!
So, you may not think this turned out great, but considering the situation, I think it's great! This was about a 6 inch long gash, split, or rip (whatever you want to call it) in hubby's car seat. The seat is not flat, and the gash was on the angled side of the seat, near the seam, in a very awkward place to access to do the repair. I had to stand outside the car, lean over the seat, and push down on the side edge of the seat, to be able to see the gash and attempt the repair. (Ouch, my poor back!) The gash only went through the top layer of the faux leather, but not through the bottom layer of fabric. So there was no way to add backing material before doing the repair. AND, the "frayed" edges of the top layer of faux leather had about 1/16 th of an inch of jagged edges, sticking up along both edges of the gash. Ugh. After trying to trim off all the jagged edges, using 4 different pairs of scissors, and because of the awkward angle and position of the gash on the seat, I just could not get the scissors close enough to remove hardly any of the tiny jagged edges. I wanted to try a razor blade, but hubby wasn't crazy about that idea, so I left all of the remaining jagged edges. This meant having to apply the vinyl repair liquid under the jagged edges to try to "glue" them down, then filling in the remaining "hole, slash, gash" with more of the repair liquid. Per the instructions, I tried to use thin layers of the liquid, rather than flooding the gash with the liquid. I did not use the brush, I only used the little spatula. I smoothed out the liquid as best as I could, dabbed off the edges with a wet Q-tip and rubbing alcohol. Let it "dry" for an hour then looked at it. It was starting to "repair" the gash. I added another layer of the repair liquid. I just dabbed small amounts along the gash straight out of the tube, then smoothed it out again with the spatula, and dabbed the edges again. I did this a total of 5 times, waiting an hour between each layer of liquid. Each time, it was looking better. Obviously, it is NOT an invisible repair, because I could not remove the jagged edges of torn "leather". And, the final repair was kind of lumpy. So, I then used a piece of sandpaper to rub over the bumps which did smooth it out some what better, and added 1 final coat/layer of the repair liquid, dabbing or blending the edges and removing any excess liquid around the edges with a paper towel dampened with rubbing alcohol. I had given up on Q-tips after the first couple of layers of repair liquid. Knowing that I had already ordered a bottom seat cover (arriving the next day), I was ok with how it turned out. Even without the seat cover, I would be ok with this repair the way it turned out. The repair liquid dries to feel just like the original seat fabric / faux leather. So, even though the repair is not invisible, I don't blame the repair kit, that's mostly because I couldn't remove the jagged edges of fabric. And what is most important, at least hubby won't be continuing to rip the seat. And if he does, I still have plenty of repair liquid to fix it! After all the layers I did, I still have nearly a full tube of black liquid left, and never had to open the second tube of black. I never used the tube of white liquid. I did wipe the spatula with rubbing alcohol and a paper towel between each application. THANKS for this awesome product! It took a few hours to complete the repair, but it sure was a lot cheaper than having the seat recovered!

Decent product
I have only just applied the product, so I have no idea how well it will hold up. I will say that there seems to be an adequate amount of product for the purchase price. I would add that there is no red hue in the brown kit. I consider chestnut a brown, but it does need a bit of red in it, so my color match could be better. The other chocolate brown was easily matched. I own leather not vinyl, so using rubbing alcohol to clean the product up after drying was not good. It took color off both my pieces of leather furniture. I chose to dry wipe the product gently after application to smooth it out instead.

HOPE FOR HOPELESS LEATHER!!
Don't throw out your couch!! This product far exceeded my expectations--which were high. We purchased our used Broyhill leather couch and armchair off eBay 15 years ago. Really. Four kids and three cats used these things to death. I've loved the real leather and the overall upscale look these couches provide. A few years ago we garbage-picked an exactly matching love seat from the side of the road. The arms had rather large holes in them and the leather was pretty gnarly. But it was free, and we needed the extra seating. However, this winter I had to face the fact that our couches were no longer shabby chic. They were just shabby. I started shopping for replacements and quickly realized that we could never afford to replace what we had. And the options we could afford were just cheap. I love a fix-it challenge, so I went online and found this repair kit. I've said that I had high expectations because our couches were in such bad shape: crackled, ripped, dull. But truthfully, I didn't think any product could restore our couches to any degree of beauty. I was wrong!!! Deliriously wrong! I mixed up my first batch of color and laid it one. I was skeptical. But I kept going. Pretty soon, the transformation grew evident: My battered couches were looking weathered, but lovely. I covered cat scratches and areas where the leather had cracked off. I redid much of the loveseat (cushions and arms), two couch cushions and arms, the top of the ottoman, and the arms of the armchair. For the slashed arm of the loveseat, I came across a men's leather jacket at our local Goodwill for $7. I dismantled it, sewed seams down the sides, and used a GOO product to glue my huge patch onto the sofa arm, matching the seams down the side and tucking one end under the side of the cushion and the other under the side of the arm where it slopes around at a 90 degree angle, and you can't see the seam. The color of the coat did not match the loveseat. At all. No problem!! I simply slathered on the leftover coloring and--WOW--it looks pretty great! It's been a few weeks since the initial coloring. Parts of the couch need some touching up. So I reordered the kit. I wanted to get more to keep around for future sprucing up. My husband put boards under the cushions, and I scavenged a memory foam futon cushion to supplement or replace the most deflated couch cushions. The couches and chair don't look perfect, but our style is kind of upscale cottage--or so I convince myself. We like the warm worn and comfy look. Thank you, Browns for this great product!! My one suggestion is that you provide a larger mixing container and spatula. I ended up using the bottom of the tube to spread the colorant on the large areas I was treating. I worked well. But it took me a while to come up with the solution. Buyers, you can purchase this product w confidence!

It works, and customer service is fantastic!
My vinyl couch was deeply scratched and destroyed by a cat and years of direct sunlight. It truly looked awful and ready to throw in the trash. As a last resort, I bought this product. You definitely have to read the instructions and use the color guide to mix the color. While I couldn't get the color exactly to match (I am not an artist!), it was close enough that you can't really tell that it's repaired unless you look carefully. The product completely renewed the look of my couch and even sealed up rips. I am extremely happy with it. However, the best part of all was the incredible customer service. I reached out ot the company and they sent me another product for free that could even out the matte finish. They also refunded me for a product I thought I needed but didn't end up using. This was incredible customer service. They are a lovely company.

Bringing Worn Leather Back to Life, One Careful Moment at a Time
Thereโs something quietly hopeful about opening the FORTIVO Professional Black Leather Repair Kit, like standing in a tidy kitchen knowing supperโs going to turn out just fine. This kit doesnโt promise miracles, but it does offer a fair chance at making tired, scuffed leather look respectable again. I used it on a well-loved chair thatโs seen more conversations and evenings than it probably cares to remember, and I found the process surprisingly gentle and forgiving. The instructions are clear enough for anyone willing to slow down and follow them, and the black color blends in better than you might expect, smoothing over cracks and scratches with a soft kind of grace. It takes patience, though, and a steady hand; rush it and the results will show your haste. While it wonโt erase deep damage or years of neglect, it does restore dignity to everyday leather. Four stars feel rightโreliable, comforting, and best appreciated by those who understand that care, not perfection, is the real goal.

worked for me on black vinyl that was peeling--very good match except the shiny sheen
I tried a few products in the past and nearly gave up trying, but other reviews on this product made me try it for my black vinyl chair. Here are my observations: 1) It's much easier to use on black objects because the color match is so much closer/easier than other colors 2) for peeling/scratched or ripped vinyl top layers, this was really easy to use. Simply clean with rubbing alcohol, let dry and get the kit out. The included small plastic spatula was easy to use to spread out the repair material per the included instructions. It didn't fill the repair area fully the first time, but the second time looked really good. 3) Once it dried, the only issue was the sheen. It was shiny compared to the other vinyl, and the instructions tell us to buff the repair with rubbing alcohol after the repair dries. The instructions said leather repairs would get dull after buffing due to oils in the leather. Unfortunately, vinyl doesn't have those oils so the repair lost a little shine with buffing, but it is still more shiny than the vinyl. Overall, it still looks better repaired than it did peeling. I considered having a bigger repair area that included a whole strip across the arm of the chair, instead of just around the peeling hole, but I will buff the repair one more time and see how that goes first. The process takes the repaired item out of commission for a day to ensure it dries after each repair or fill, so my chair couldn't be used for 2 days when I repaired the arm (initial repair, then an extra fill in the uneven hole). So--I really like the product and the repair process. The repair was much easier because I didn't have to mix any colors to make a good color match. I ordered the color kit for another item and will see how that goes after I receive it.
