Great product for use before you hit the range....
That being said, this doesn't work well, if at all, in bright sunlight, so bore-sight it in the shade before you head to the range unless it is a really cloudy day or you have access to an indoor range. The item is a great item and I keep it in my range bag in case I have to swap out scopes. Great buy. There are kits that have several calibers available. I would buy one from this manufacturer if I had several rifles of various calibers. Great buy.

What a time saver!
I only wish I had one of these 30 years ago. I purchased this to zero in my Sako 30.06 and am VERY happy with the performance. I sighted my optical scope in at 100 yards using this laser and it took me a whopping 60 seconds to do so. I was also able to establish exact distance zeros by laser targeting a specific target and making note for optical correction. What a time saver!

30-06 bore sight
Does what it was sold for!... got me on paper and saved me alot of rounds!! I think it took me a total of 7 rounds after using this to get my gun zeroed?! battery life is not great...

Laser is crooked.
I just received the laser bore sight unit and fitted the batteries. On the good side, the laser is quite powerful and works well when the batteries are fitted. On the negative side, the central laser unit is cockeyed on an angle of several degrees so that if rolled on a table with the laser on, the red dot will oscillate on the wall. There are apparently some tiny brass screws that are misaligned. Thus, the unit is worthless for its intended use since the laser will point in different directions depending upon how it is inserted into the breech of the rifle. I will attempt to send it back for a credit when I figure out how to do this.I seldom write a negative review on anything but this is so bad that it warrants mentioning. Save your money on this one.

helpful but not completely accurate
I found that past 50 yards the laser was not visible and it depended on how the shell was loaded to accuracy. I tried it in the rifle before I fired any rounds at a distance of less than 50 yards. The laser pointed to the upper right quarter of the target about 4 rings out from the center. I ejected the shell and reloaded it.. This time it was dead center . but about 3 rings high from the center of the target. I did not do any adjustment. I had not fired my rifle since last year. I fired 2 rounds at a target a little over 100 yards distance. One of which hit dead center on the bulls eye, and 1 a little high. One round was a factory load and the other a reload. I think the factory load was the one that hit the bulls eye. The reload would have hit where the laser sight would have pointed at that distance. I would suggest if you use this product to load and unload it a few times to see where the laser is pointing before you fire any rounds. Use a distance of 50 yards or less. Mark where it pointed and where you round hit the target before you do any adjustment on you scope

Great idea, just didn't execute well.
The 30-06 laser bore sighter is a great tool to save money when attaching new scopes or just plain sighting in. However that being said, this particular model was lacking in some key aspects. There is no on/off switch to this sighter. For the price, I can't expect the world so I got over that. The big problem I had is when chambered, it took an awful long time to be able to "aim" it through the barrel in a way that produced a clear dot to be able to sight into. This can be meticulous and requires a fair amount of patience and even so, can produce a very limited ability to sight in beyond 25-50 yards. For a .22 or AR-15 .223; this would be fine to start you off but for a 30-06 rifle meant for 100+ yard - not optimal. Not a bad product for the price but overall, would recommend spending a little more for a better system.

Seems to be well made, and is a good tool to get your firearm dialed in for pre accuracy testing. I only wish they had an on off button in the primer area. Have to remove batteries to turn it off, or make a plastic or paper shim to insert between batteries and spring cap as I did.

Laser Bore Sighter
I purchased a new Remington 700 series 30-06 rifle and a Nikon Prostaff BDC scope, I bore sighted the scope the old fashion way, went to the range and at 100 yards couldn't even hit the paper target. So, I purchased the laser bore sighter inserted the cartridge into the barrel, placed it into the gun vise at the recommended twenty-five yards and I was off by a lot. Made the proper adjustments and went back to the range. At 100 yards I was dead on with the windage and two clicks off on elevation. Very satisfied at a good price.
