The meter did not come with test solution. Will the unit function without the solution? The instruction booklet says the solution is necessary.

It will function without test solution but the test solution will tell you if your answers are correct and the glucometer is functioning correctly. you have to see if the pharmacy or were you bought the strips can give you a test solution, The solution should be fresh the use by date should be on the test solution.

can this meter be used with all types of caresens test strips coded and uncoded?

This meter can only be used with CareSens N Test Strip, which is no-coding needed. There are no other strip for CareSens N meter that is code needed.

Are test strips included?

As I remember it came with a few strips . You can purchase more strips through Amazon for about $10 to 14$ for 50 in a little plastic bottle. I bought a bunch to be sure I had them on hand.
