does this monitor temperature in the battery management system?  It would not be very safe always ON -- a fire hazard.

Currently this battery without temperature protection,it have over charge/over discharge/over current/short circuit protection inside.

How does this support 12v/6a output if the charger is only 12.6/2a. can this be used with a higher wattage charger?

At best, wattage in must be greater or equal than wattage out. You can't violate the laws of physics. Add up all of the output powers of all of the output ports (12V*1A*4 + 5V*2A + 9V*2A = 76 watts). If the ratings are to be believed, then the input power adapter MUST supply that total power. Divide the power by 12V for the input current (76W/12V = 6.3A), far higher than 2A that the 12V/2A power adapter can supply. Something is wrong, either the power adapter is under-powered, or the output ports are overrated. Which is it, vendor?

Who knows? I've bought 4 in the past 2 years and they were always available on Amazon. Talent Cell makes other units, but in my experience and IMO none of them is anywhere as good as this one. Worth waiting for if not immediately available when you check.

Does it need to be recharged after a power outage before hooking router & modem to it?

no, it works like a UPS and keeps your router/modem running through the power outage; it will run most routers/modems for about 8 hours before running out of juice; if your power returns in a few hours, then no problem; the unit does not need "recharging" ... the whole idea of the unit is to tide you over power outages without hassles ... and without your router & modem losing power (or having to wait for recharging) ... I've had 4 of these running for over 2 years in a rural area that has frequent (brief 2-3 hours at max) outages during every rainstorm and they have worked flawlessly keeping not only my modem & router up, but also my wireless security system and remote cameras.
