Dibucaine Ointment 1% Hemorrhoids Ointment - 1 Oz (2 Pack)

This stuff works for real, doesn't matter what's causing your pain, it'll numb the area! I use it on my kids for boo-boos, why feel the pain if they don't have to? We also use it for it's more intimate purpose in the back door region and it's exactly what's needed, when the need arises!

This ointment was recommended to me by my surgeon for my anal fissure. I could not find it in stores so I decided to get it online. The stores are dominated by Prep H and other brands that have only done nothing but irritate me and made my issue worse. My surgeon would not recommend those brands and products. He said dibucaine would be more gentle, and he is right. It takes a few minutes to kick in, and I felt a little tingle when I applied it but then felt relief. The fissure has affected me severely to the point of not being able to stand, sit, or lay down. I was taking high doses of ibuprofen to relieve the pain, and my sleep was disturbed for several weeks. I had trouble eating, and doing basic things like cleaning. Nothing but pain was on my mind, and I was I was feeling so desperate and depressed. Now using Nifedipine (ointment prescribed by my doctor) and dibucaine, doing sitz baths, and taking psyllium husk (fiber supplement) I am getting better, and hopefully won’t need surgery. I still take some ibuprofen (small dose) in the morning but the rest of my day is managed with my ointments and sitz baths. If you think you have hemorrhoids, see a doctor to ensure you are treating the correct problem. I thought I had hemorrhoids but it turned out I only have a fissure so everything I was trying for 3 weeks was not working. Unfortunately the fissure will take 4-6 weeks to heal. Don’t be embarrassed, it’s your health and it matters!

I've used Dibucaine ointment on my hemorrhoids for years. A couple years ago I ran out and tried to get a prescription from my PCM. He didn't know what I was talking about and told me to get preparation H. I did and got minimal relief from it. I went online and found that Amazon has Dibucaine and ordered it. Problems solved and immediate relief.

The product does everything it's supposed to do. It isn't quite as numbing as say 5% Lidocaine but it's pretty close. I like that the container is pretty durable (doesn't randomly ooze ointment into your purse where the tube developed a weak spot). HOWEVER - the top of one of the two tubes is EXTREMELY difficult to get off. I mean difficult to the point where I had to just give up on it and cut the bottom of the tube off to get the product out. I'm now relying on a ziplock bag to keep the product from getting everywhere, all because the top didn't work correctly.I would also like to note: I use this for a variety of skin conditions, including eczema and atopic dermatitis. I have RXs for those skin conditions, but I still find that the dibucaine is effective enough that I continue to purchase it in addition to the RX steroids and numbing agents. On a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is no itch at all, I would say that the dibucaine in this product is about a 7.0-8.0.

I used to use Dibucaine Ointment and was always extremely satisfied. Unfortunately I have not been successful in finding this product in any store. Consequently, I have had to use the only hemmoroid ointment and suppositories on store shelves -- Preperation X -- even though this product has been extremely unsatisfactory. My granddaughter has been ordering items off the internet which prompted me to check the internet to see if Dibucaine was still being manufactured. I was thrilled to find someone from whom I could get the product I wanted! Thanks, Amazon!

If you're a Nupercainal user like I was and have been looking for a replacement, this is your best bet. It works well and has about the same consistency as Nupercainal but doesn't smell quite as strong. It's also clear (or slighty opaque) which might be a selling point for some. I saw in another review that Nupercainal might be brought back but this product works very well for me when I need it and I will continue to use it regardless...or at least until it's discontinued too!!
