Excellent Beginner Welder with Serious Power (Even on 110V) Has 220v converter!
I purchased the YESWELDER MIG-205DS PRO for my son, who is just getting started with welding, and we are both extremely impressed. First off, this machine is very beginner-friendly. The controls are intuitive, setup was straightforward, and it didnโt overwhelm him like some higher-end industrial welders can. That said, it definitely doesnโt feel like a โbeginner-onlyโ machine. What really surprised us is the penetration on 110V. My son specifically mentioned that even running on standard household power, the welds have solid penetration and consistency, which is something you donโt always see at this price point. When switched to 220V, itโs a completely different beast. The 5-in-1 multiprocess capability is a huge bonus: Gas MIG Flux Core MIG Spool Gun MIG (great for aluminum) Lift TIG Stick welding This makes it a welder he can grow into as his skills improve, instead of outgrowing it in a year. Build quality feels solid, the arc is smooth, and it runs reliably without random issues or overheating. For hobbyists, DIYers, and especially new welders, this is an outstanding value. If youโre looking for a versatile, powerful, and beginner-approved welder, this one is absolutely worth it. My son loves it, and I feel confident knowing heโs learning on a quality machine. Highly recommended ๐

Excellent machine and great value
Firstly, Iโm a hobbyist with very little welding experience. This machine is fantastic. I had a hiccup with my original machine, the spool feed wasnโt working, but things go wrong. Amazon replaced it and the new one works great. Iโve only used the MIG and stick functionality, both work great. So pleased with this machine. Easy set, clear instructions, good quality, works exactly as I hoped. Great value too.

Good quality, value for money.
There are welders for less, welders with more power, some with Plasma Cutting, but none of those have the build and quality of the YesWelder brand. Lots to like, a couple of things no so much. Biggest niggle is the lack of a hook on the gun to hang it while adjusting clamps etc. My last gas-less welder has a hook on the gun, I guess was spoiled. Next niggle, flux welding, on the materials settings sheet it recommends wire speed 179, dc volts 18.3 for 16 ga steel. Well, you had better giddy up at that setting, if too slow the welder makes holes. To fill those I went 67 fpm wire speed, 17.2 volts. Does not show amps in flux mode before you start but, oddly does WHILE the welder is welding. Weird. Otherwise it pops spot welds in 'thousand and ' only no need for any numbers ...lol My old gas-less needed full 4 secs to do the same work. As I said, what's not to love about this machine. Good size, compatible with my needs, easy to use, not too heavy, 37 lbs, versatile.

A simply stunning little machine
It has taken me most of a year from purchasing this welder to writing this review, because I wanted to put it through all its paces. After all, a machine that claims to be able to do every major welding process for under 400 bucks isโฆ well, itโs gotta be lying somehow. Let me get the bad stuff out of the way first: the instructions are almost useless, the arc settings are confusing and almost willfully obscure (I had to watch so many YouTube videos to get MAG to work correctly) and there are little quirks that are just not mentioned anywhere, like the fact that it is only programmed to accept .035 flux core wire, but accepts three different sizes of MIG wire (still no idea why), and the internal mount for the roll of wire seemed- at first, second, and third glance- to be missing parts, but actually works on friction alone. It doesnโt match the diagram in the instructions at all, but it *does* work. Took me two emails to the company to sort that one out. So in terms of user friendliness, itโs pretty terrible. Andโฆ there ends the list of complaints. This little machine does everything it claims, and does it well. I couldnโt believe it the first time I set it up for TIG and discovered that it really does do Lift TIG, exactly as it claims. The current in all modes is perfectly steady, and it runs hot and clean at all times. I couldnโt get it to overheat, my half-inch plate workpiece was glowing red before the machine called it quits. I still donโt know where the cycle limits are, but theyโre higher than I require. Iโm real conservative when switching between 110 and 220, because the instructions to โwait 2 minutesโ is totally unclear, so I wait 2 minutes after plugging it into the new current level with the power switch off, and another 2 with the power switch on, just to make sure it has completely switched from 110 to 220 or vice versa before I use it. Thereโs no indicator or anything, but it does seem to switch back and forth just fine. Overall, if youโre willing to put up with the quirks, this is a fantastic machine for the money. It welds, you guys, it welds every kind of steel you can think of. It does its job brilliantly. Iโm more than happy to put up with some quirks for performance like this. Money very well spent, and if YesWelder can improve their instructions and user interface, they could end up a serious player in the welding game. Edit 2024: please note that this review was for the previous-gen 'blue box' 205DS. I cannot speak to the current gen 'black box' version, except to say that it seems much improved over my version, and my blue welder is going strong three years later.

very good machine.
The welder arrived with some minor damage and had a few issues with lag, but overall itโs a very good machine.

Excellent all-in-one welder!
The YESWELDER MIG-205DS PRO is super easy to use and perfect for anyone from a beginner to a weekend fabricator. I love that it runs on both 110 V and 220 V, so I can use it anywhere โ from the garage to the shop. Switching between MIG and stick welding is quick and straightforward, and the controls are very user-friendly. Itโs also spool-gun ready, which means I can weld aluminum without needing a separate machine. This single unit really does it all โ MIG, stick, steel, aluminum โ all in one compact setup. Great value, great performance, and incredibly convenient!

It works as a stick welder OK
It is a good welder. The power requirements are a little more than stated which might be ok when plugged directly into a wall plug of the correct size but require a heaver extension cord that most people do not have if you want to get the welder closer to a project.

Mig gun not working on arrival
Mig gun didn't work on arrival, pulled trigger no wire would feed. Jumped terminals on machine connector, wire fed. Same as if using machine wire feed button. Tested 2 terminals from connector side, with multimeter, trigger pushed measured O.L, had to run a wire from mig gun switch to connector terminal, worked now. Yeswelder sending replacement, since contacted. Mig gun now worked, tested on 110v at 140amps highest. NOW **Make sure you account that mig gun torch is only rated at 150amps, when running 3-5mm thickness at 200 Amps, it exceeds the mig torch amperage rating. But doesn't show that in description. Now mig gun will now work again lol Who sells a welder that has higher amperage output then the supplied mig gun amperage rating... just saying. Piece of advice, if welding on 220v at 150 amps or higher, buy a new mig gun rated at least 200 amps or higher( preferably 250-300amps)

Great price, great welding machine!
Great welding machine, I really love it. The interface is very easy to understand and to change mode from Arc to MIG for instance. I used it both for fluxore and rod welding so far and it is doing a great job. Installation of wire is easy too and I live the button to feed the wire in the gun. Overall a solid choice for weekend warriors / fabriators at a nice price especially when on sale. Got it for around 375$ CAD if I remember correctly. I could not miss that deal and don't regret it at all. I also got the cotton jacket from Yeswelder and it's a good product too. I went too fast to choose the Fluxcore wire and got the general type (GS) but realised that I would be better with a multi pass wire E71T-11 ftom Hobart and it does a nicer job than Yeswelder' own E71T-GS or probably any other E71T-GS. My tip: grap some quality E71T-11 and live happy. ๐
