This year, I decided to give an advent calendar filled with candy to a family with three children. Three kids means I needed daily compartments that could handle three pieces of candy. This Toy Shop Advent Calendar is really just the ticket. Excuse the blurriness of my photo, but it does help prove my point. The individual compartments are large and deep enough to handle easily three pieces of small candy – in the case shown in the photo, I can fit three small size packets of M&Ms in one compartment.And speaking of “compartment”, the set up on this calendar is optimum if the size of the compartment is important to you. I’ve seen advent calendars with drawers comprising the compartments. There’s nothing wrong with that, but a space made by a drawer will necessarily be made smaller by the sides and back of the drawer itself taking up space. This advent calendar uses doors – voila! – more space to fill to the brim or insert larger surprises.Last notes: This is relatively heavy as it’s large and made of wood (but not unmanageably so). The colors and design of the front Toy Shop pattern are brightly colored and a cheerful Christmas scene. This is one of two patterns I just purchased by Vermont Christmas Company, and kudos to them for a quality product.I’m very happy with it and now have to get busy filling it!Happy Reader

My Wife and I got this calendar to give as a gift. We opened it and it is even better in real life than the pictures. It was a very nice addition to my Christmas mantel...used it as the center point and worked outward...added some mini lights over the roof..too cute! Built well and the boxes were plenty deep enough for all kinds/sizes of small treats! I also liked the fact that the numbered boxes were mixed up so the hunt for prizes was a little more challenging!

I bought this for my nephews birthday coming up. I wanted something that he could use throughout his childhood and then pass on to his children one day, (I have one for my kids from a different company that will be in the family for years to come). I had high hopes that this would be as beautiful as it looks. It is sturdy and well put together, but the paint or stickers were smudged all over, and the wood on a corner of one door was flipping up. I sent it back and will order him the same one we have.

I am very happy with this wooden advent calendar. The quality is much better than the majority of others available - the doors are sturdy! It was a fun addition to my Christmas decorations and we all looked forward to being able to put a new little ornament (that’s what we filled each day with) on the tree each day. Highly recommended!

I like the craftsmanship of this calendar. It is sturdy and looks nice. I wish the openings were a bit deeper to fit a gift card, but they are decent size.

This is a beautiful advent calendar. It’s well made, and the drawers are varying sizes, which gives you the opportunity to put different size items in each day. It’s a little difficult to see the numbers, which makes it more challenging for the children to find that day.
