Great info, but overdone in repetition
For an expansive look into a good number of the different systems of aquaponics that could be used, the typical types of fish that do well in aquaponic systems, and the typical plants that are best suited to grow, this book was fantastic. The amount of information concerning how to start growing commercially and suggestions towards what to apply for by way of business certifications, commercial licenses and other legal forms was great as well! Where I saw complaints about how another book about aquaponics only focused on one system and took half a book to explain how to actually build and manage a setup, this book went above and beyond going over many different possible aspects one can explore before DIYing their own system. The main issue I had with reading this was the number of times the author would repeat the same words and phrases over and over needlessly. YES, I GOT IT after you said it the second time. Stop saying the same things over and over! The same phrase about how fish need oxygen was said with the exact same words four times within six paragraphs. Other phrases were repeated near verbatim to the point where I had to put the Kindle down and scream, begging for more information and less preaching about how organic the system is and to avoid GMOs. I understand GMOs are bad, there was a whole chapter dedicated to explaining the broader issues with the food industry, I don't need that in the chapter where I want to learn the difference between siphon types! One chapter about the benefit of organics is informative, but saying it in almost every single page is preaching. People don't want to be preached at.TL;DR: Great and informative book, but repetitive to the point of near madness for me. Will keep it as a reference.

Expecting a better second edition
This book has a lot of great information, on the down side there is a typo on almost every page and there's very little about vertical growing. It's not very well organized. The fish chapter is particularly irritating. Some fish are organized in a logical manner and it looks like it's going to continue that way until it's just not. I'm hoping that the second edition will fix some of these problems. There were also a lot of opinions given, where I was just looking for how to's. I really don't need to hear the authors opinion on GMO's or Fluoride in order to set up my system.

Seems like the thrust of the book is for commercial business considerations. First major gripe is "no index". So if I'm looking for info on a SLO drain for instance, I have to consult the table of contents, try to determine where it might be covered, and try again if I'm wrong.Multiple times through the book the reader is directed to a Web site that is non-functional. If I wanted to use the web I wouldn't have bought a book. I use this volume very little and hope to re-sell it on Amazon.

His side of aquaponics
This book had a lot of good material and plenty of stuff to educate yourself but he mainly only covers one small part of the whole. I recommend this book along with 2 or three others of your choice to get a bigger picture. Aquaponics is very satisfying, get started now.

Informative
Have not finished it but tons of info and written decently. Not edited that well and does have some fluff but full of actual info. I would suggest this over the top selling book with the fancy cover

The kindle edition is great. So much valuable information easy to access in one single place, although not so many references to the data shown.
