Ibex 17 inch Laptop Backpack, Men's and Women's Laptop Bag, Black/Gray/Blue

I chose the Ibex laptop backpack after searching for a while which backpack would best hold the kind of stuff I may find myself carrying around. And so far I'm very happy with it. On a recent business trip, I found myself carrying two 15 inch laptops (plus power cords), a collapsing fan cooling mat, a mouse, phone charger, my janitor style lotsa-keys key ring, some pens and pencils, a notebook, two textbooks (one average, one smaller, both paperbacks), and 4 spiralbound training manuals. Add it all up, and my bathroom scale says the backpack and contents weighed * 33.5 lbs *. Yea, it was a little hard to get off the floor and onto my shoulders (I'm a computer nerd, not a body builder), but once up and on it was pretty comfortable. Some people say a clip to hold the two shoulder straps together across the chest would be an improvement, but somehow this worked well for me and I did not find myself wishing for that, but I wouldn't refuse it either. (Somehow I managed to escape getting a !third! laptop myself on my last business trip. Whew!) It has more compartments than my second choice, the Pegasus also from Wenger. Ibex has one more large compartment area, which is what sold me on this over the Pegasus. My two laptops are a Dell Latitude E6530 and a Lenovo Thinkpad T530. With this much weight to be carried around, the Wenger steel cable handles look sturdy. Hopefully they really are sturdy, and not just for show. I'd be afraid that some brands with weaker looking top handles would tear off when I picked this all up. As for carrying two laptops, there is only one cushioned sleeve for one laptop, and so I plan to get a sleeve to put the second laptop into when in the bag as well. At the airport, it was relatively easy to pull both laptops out of the bag and get them into individual Xray bins, and then return them to their backpack compartment. I put both laptops together in the zippered section directly against my back when wearing it, everything else was in other zippered areas, so no fiddling to get the computers out and leave the paper stuff in. I've tried my wife's Dell Inspiron 17R (7720) laptop fits nicely, and she is considering an Ibex for herself, as she expects to find herself carrying around two laptops as well, and the usual shoulder-bag style laptop case isn't going to work for her with that much weight. Her second laptop is a 15 inch HP of some sort. While on the trip, this bag and its contents rolled off of the pile in the back of the group SUV and hit the ground, twice. One laptop suffered enough force to pop a case edge clip loose, and also pop a corner of the keyboard loose. I popped them back into place and all is well. The other laptop has no known effects from the falls. So, I'm quite happy with this backpack. I can carry both my work computer and my own computer, some textbooks for university, notebook, and misc stuff that one tends to find in many laptop bags. I expect to find myself with a lot of stuff in it at times, and so far it seems to be holding up quite well. Hopefully my back does the same. :)

If you control+f 'd your way to find all the reviews that talk about whether or not your FX would fit or not look no further. I have owned my FX6860 for 3 years and could only find a large Nike duffel bag that fit it. So after 3 years of waiting and wanting I decided to risk this bag and see what I thought, and also Im a college student so having book space was important. So the meat and potatoes of it all. It WILL fit a Gateway FX6860 laptop...its not OMG tight, it will zip around it and keep its form. The only thing is you need to remove the battery....BUT!!! they give you a zipper pocket inside with the laptop to store it and it is more than spacious. Also if you are bringing the power cord there are pockets a plenty to put that big brick in as well. The straps for your shoulders feel very well made, im not a huge fan of blue but it overall looks extremely solid. As for book space, I have a 900+ page OSHA manual and 6 steno's in this thing and you can still fit more books in it. I can not imagine filling this thing to the brim because you wouldnt even want to carry it. It has a an AWESOME top pocket by the Steel Cable handle for Cell phone or anything you need to quick grab. The pocket is deeper than you think and can fit both of my fists side by side like gloves. Very impressed. It has two top grabbing handles but you will always use the Steel one because it looks awesome. Zippers are as smooth as butter and metal clasps that feel ROBUST! Bottom appears to be waterproof as well as it is not a cloth that would soak up the nastiness of college floors. Two water bottle holders that are Extremely tight material wise and if you can get a water bottle to slip out you are truly a magician. If you are on the fence on whether or not to get this, i am very stingy and I have enjoyed every second with this bag and completely give it my Minnesotan Seal of Approval. Also on the laptop part of the bag, it has its own zipper to get into it, AND where the laptop is placed is a velcro strap to further prevent slippage and you could still fit a notebook or two in that side and the walls are padded front to back to soften blows to the laptop. I cannot speak highly enough of this bag and if you have a gateway fx 6860 and want to tote that heavy thing around this thing will do the trick and honestly, if you are concerned about taking the battery off.....you clearly do not understand that a laptop running in a backpack is s dead laptop. -Minnesotan-

Way back in 2010 I had bought this book bag from another website for about $80 which was $10 cheaper than retail sites in my area. I do not like to change book bags every year for school. I would rather have one that is durable and lasts for the long haul and fits everything I need. So, since these bags are exactly the same I can tell you that it made it through my 9th-12th (2010-2014) grade career and then through four years of college. This is an amazing bag and works perfect for me. The computer pouch is a winner because it fits my 17” laptop and protects it. Now a few flaws this bag will see over the use of time: The self standing up feature will soon get worn out due to the weight of books bending the cardboard like shelf built in. No biggi. The next noticble thing is the load shocks. Haha you will have so much packed in that bag, you might as well scrap that idea. They are stretched to the max but I guess it does help if you got a hop in your walk. I don’t know, guess if you walk around with noting in the bag they would work great but you put about 3 good sized textbooks in there and a binder (by the way is a tight fit) those little shocks on the shoulder straps are screaming. Next will be the bottom corners. After setting it down and sliding it into place the corners get to be worn out drastically causing the threads to be exposed weakening the bottom. Along with this thank the external weight the bottom will begin to rip at the seam. Another spot that rips is around the support for the cable handel from grabbing the bag up with a super load over time (I had it all sewed up and worked fine for another couple years)! The cable handel which is a real eye catcher for people (they are like wow, is that a cable in there!?!) haha but again over many years the metal on the cable edges will become tarnished. The rubber/plastic handel covering the cable starts to break apart from the weight of picking the bag up loaded. The backing of this bag that is supposed to be bratheable... If you live in the South and the humidity is on 1000% you can for get it... I guess if air shot down your back as you walk it would be breathable. The bottom pad of the back which rests around the belt line I noticed that it can wear cotton shirts out from the rubbing of the material on softer cotton shirts (I just noticed the little lint balls forming on my shirts in that area). I’m talking t-shirts not dress. The little plastic caps on the end of the straps tend to get in the way. I still have them on mine but teachers really had a hard time on the tile floors in schools when they wouldn’t watch where they were stepping and they would slip up on them... none never fell thankfully but it scared them for sure. Growing older it will get caught in the door jam of cars so you will slam that door on it. Just got to watch that... The compartments: Laptop pitch is padded. The small puch where the cable handel is where I like to stick a charger and candies for class haha. Large compartment as covered earlier can become a tight fit. If it’s full of books and stuff it probably won’t fit that jacket you were wearing during the morning. A little shoving for effort may be an option though. Basically if you pack that main compartment the other 2 front ones become useless for books with great thickness. The medium sized pocket I kept napkins in (there’s a netted ziper pouch). The little pouch on the front was pens, pencils, highlighters, germ x, usb drive, extra erasers, extra led, and one of those t-98 something calculators. Never had a problem there. Always knew where everything was, you can find stuff in the dark if you organize it right. Bottom line I’ve have this bag going on 8 years now and counting. I got this for a back up for when my primary bag completely tells me it’s done. I am certain they are exactly the same bag and quality. Will buy again but I believe this will last a lifetime now that I am done with school and it will not be used daily. It will be used for over night stays for work and travel now.

I was looking for a backpack to carry around my 17" laptop for a 2 week trip to Brazil, where my usual laptop carrying case would have screamed "Please mug me, I have a laptop!" It was great for that purpose, and now that I'm back home I find myself using this backpack more and more, as it is simply an awesome bag. First, it does as advertised: it fits my 17" laptop perfectly and although I haven't thrown the bag around to test its padding, it seems more than adequate for normal use. My guess is that your laptop would likely survive a decent fall in this backpack; certainly much better than if you just dropped it in a bag without any padding. But what really makes this a great bag is that it does more than just this. First, it is extremely comfortable, even with large amounts of weight in the backpack (sometimes when I take it off and lift it by the handle I realize it's much heavier than it feels when carrying it on your back!). The padding on the back is also designed to keep the weight of the backpack from sitting squarely on your back (allowing you to more easily avoid that uncomfortable and unattractive "sweaty backpack back" syndrome). It also can carry a lot in its multiple pockets and pouches. I can easily fit my laptop and accessories, camera and accessories, books, papers, folders, etc., etc. with room to spare, making it handy for work and travel (I actually see a good number of people in business suits toting these around airports, which looks a bit silly but speaks volumes about its comfort and utility!). And even when carrying quite a bit, the backpack doesn't look as huge and grossly overstuffed as some backpacks can when you're carrying a lot. I love the sturdy, reinforced handle (a feature I enjoy since the handle of my last "regular" backpack quickly became frayed and anytime anyone went near my backpack I had to reflexively shout "don't-lift-it-by-the-handle!!!" to avoid disaster). It looks nice but also doesn't scream "there's a laptop inside!". The bigger issue is that it's become so popular that many people (i.e. thieves) probably know that it does likely have a laptop inside. I could go on and on, but would only be repeating what others have said. Just get this bag!

After having an excellent experience with my first Swiss Gear Ibex backpack, I bought it again. My first Ibex held up very well, considering the amount of objects I carried everyday (laptop, charger, 500-page book, three binders with around 200 pages each, two calculators, rain jacket, water bottle, small lunch bag, Ipad and few other small accessories). Ideal Users: People that fill their backpacks to the extreme would benefit from a backpack like this. This is perfect for traveling and your day to day loads of books for high school/college students. The middle pocket is perfect for putting small objects that you need quick access to like passports, wallets, electronic devices and etc. This is great for highly organized people! There are many different compartments, which it gives several options of storage. You can use this backpack for nearly anything. Comfortability: The shock absorbing straps provide comfort even while carrying heavy loads with this backpack. The air flow back padding definitely helps you get through the hot days. If you get tired of carrying your backpack while traveling, there is a second handle for keeping your backpack close to a small suitcase. That is very convenient when you been waiting in line too long or running in the airport to catch a plane. Differences: I had my first Ibex Swiss Gear backpack for nearly four years, I bought the new one on January 28th, 2017). I have noticed a few differences from the older version. I attached pictures comparing my new backpack (Right) vs the old one (Left). Although the appearance on the outside is the same overall, there are a few differences within the backpacks. The front pocket has a different layout inside. I personally preferred the old layout better because it had a few more divisions. The middle, small pocket is bigger in the new Ibex which is great because it provides a pocket that you can have quick access to. Durability: This is by far the most durable backpack I ever had. The main reason I bought a new backpack was because the straps of the old one were tearing up. I find that reasonable accounting the load sizes that I put in it along the four years I had my first Ibex. As you can see in the pictures below the new Ibex seem to have thicker straps. So I expect the new Ibex to last a lot longer. The padding for the computer is very thick and it keeps it from going all over the place. Conclusion: This backpack is definitely worth the price. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a durable, comfortable and spacious backpack. You might find that the shoulder straps will start to wear out, assuming you use the backpack everyday with heavy loads.

This my second SwissGear backpack. My first was this exact same one about 5 years ago. I bought it again, because of all the backpacks I've looked at, this one has all the pockets and construction features I need. The color is cool--with blues, blacks, and reds, this backpack just looks awesome. Materials-- The materials are durable. I used and abused my first backpack for 5 years, and it only just started wearing out to the point where small holes started appearing near the upper portions near the zippers. The base of the backpack never wore out. I don't know what material they used to make it with, but it's pretty tough. The base is also "flat"--I mean, when I set my backpack down, it just stands there--and doesn't tip over. There are two handles on the top--one is a steel braided cable, wrapped in a clear sheaf of plastic, surrounded by a moulded plastic handle. That handle was the first thing to wear out on my first backpack. The plastic on the handle eventually stiffens, and becomes brittle--and cracks, and breaks--making it uncomfortable to use. I bought the extended warranty for my new backpack, because I know what's about to happen... The second handle is made of nylon--and it never wore out. Kudos to the designer for installing two handles... it's like they "knew"... The backpack has a thickly padded back section, so it's totally comfortable when I've got it on my back. The zippers are strong, and very easy to zip and unzip. Straps-- The shoulder straps are thick, padded, and comfortable. They have built-in elastic bits that add a bit of comfort when the bag is slung over your shoulders... I usually toss the bag over my right shoulder. On my old bag, the elastics on the right strap got worn out over the years--and you can see the difference between the left and right straps. But even with worn out elastics, the strap wasn't uncomfortable. Compartments-- I originally bought this backpack to carry my 17" laptop. I wasn't disappointed. Not only does it fit a 17" laptop (I now use a 15" MacBook Pro), but I can also pack around my iPad, charging wires, and loads of other odds and ends. The laptop compartment is padded, keeping my electronics safe. There's all sorts of little smaller compartments within the main compartments--some made of mesh, and with zipper access. There's even two water bottle holders on the outer left and right sides, as well as a headphone wire opening. The only "downside" I can think of for the main compartments, is that they aren't padded--so I have to use a separate bag for my camera gear. Travel-- I've travelled to various countries around the world with this backpack. It meets the airline carry-on requirements, and has so many compartments (including one on the top) that it makes getting things in and out super convenient when I'm stuffed into a tight airline seat. I just unzip, grab my needed item, and zip it shut. When I'm out exploring, this backpack is small and comfortable enough that I can strap it on, and go--and not have to worry about how I'm going to pack along some of the stuff I might need along the way. Security-- The backpack doesn't have any "locks". But if you wanted to, you could buy those tiny little padlocks, and secure the main compartments. The main compartments have two zippers each--and the zippers have little loops on their handles--so you could meet the zippers in the middle, and lock them together if you wanted to. The small compartment on the top has only 1 zipper--so no way to secure that one. Summary-- If you need a backpack that's comfortable, stylish, has loads of compartments, and can carry a large laptop (easily)--look no further. I highly recommend the SwissGear Wenger Ibex Laptop Backpack!

I work as a helpdesk support technician at a 1:1 school district, so I take my backpack with me everywhere, to several campuses every day. I've been using this backpack for this purpose for three years, and it's still in good shape. The only tears are on the right shoulder strap because I was lifting it from there for the first year, and it's not designed for that. Once I started lifting from the heavy-duty handle built into it (yes, I know, kinda dumb of me), the damage stopped. I see myself using this backpack for at least another three years. Very durable and long-lasting.

This backpack can carry an entire office or an entire weekend wardrobe! This Swiss Gear Wenger is replacing another exactly like it because no other style or brand could give me the features this one has. I carried the first one every single day for 3 years as I traveled weekly through airports, diverse industrial work locations, hotels, rental cars, offices, meetings, even vacation. It WORKS as much as I do! The 2 largest storage compartments have dividers, including padded protection for a laptop. The 2 front compartments and computer compartment also have netted rear wall zip pockets. The front storage compartment also has pen loops and a soft fabric pocket for glasses. Wow. There are two heavy duty zip pockets on the sides above the 2 outside net “bottle” pockets (not just for water bottles) and they are all reinforced and well sewn. My favorite pocket is the one directly on top of the bag. I can drop keys, phone, tickets, sunglasses, (all at the same time) and anything else I need for quick and easy access. The back of the bag is padded for your back comfort and the straps are padded and include a storage pocket and a loop for attaching anything you want. The HANDLES!!! None of these features would mean anything if the handles couldn’t carry the weight of the loaded bag. The main handle has a tubing wrapped airplane cable surrounded by a ventilated rubber grip handle. I’ve hung my loaded bag from that handle hundreds of times. There is also a double layer webbing handle that you can use to carry the bag, I use it to go over my suitcase rolling handle to piggyback the backpack on the suitcase. Even fully stuffed I’ve placed it in overhead compartments or under the seat on flights. The materials used in every part of this bag are superior to other brands I’ve used. If I was stranded on a desert island and all I had was my backpack, I think I could survive for a while! And I have been stranded - in one too many airports, so I know how it feels. Great bag, great design, great quality. There are even more great design aspects of this bag I could point out, but I’m just an engineer that gets a little too excited about the geeky stuff. Can you tell I’m a great fan of this bag.?

Estuve mirando varias mochilas antes de decidirme por esta, necesitaba una mochila espaciosa para usar a diario y llevar libros, el portátil, la comida y a veces las cosas del gimnasio, pero también necesitaba que fuera suficientemente grande para usarla en viajes cortos. Tuve bastantes dudas y estuve viendo vídeos en youtube de varias mochilas para hacerme una idea más "real" de como era cada una. El problema que veía en todas ellas era el hueco para el portátil, mi portátil es un hp de 17,3 pulgadas y las mochilas que estaba mirando eran todas para ordenadores de 17 pulgadas. leí los comentarios pero tampoco me quedó muy claro si mi ordenador entraría o no. Finalmente me arriesgué y decidí coger esta mochila y el resultado ha sido mejor de lo esperado. El portátil entra perfectamente, si es verdad que los bordes se marcan un poco en la mochila debido a su tamaño, pero ésta no solo cierra perfectamente si no que además puedo meter mi portátil en una funda de neopreno y, esta vez sí un poco más justa, la mochila sigue cerrando. Además de poder transportar mi ordenador, la mochila es suficientemente amplia como para llevar todos los trastos que tengo que llevar cada día, y aunque aún no la he usado en ningún viaje, he hecho alguna escapadita de fin de semana y tenia espacio de sobra. En algún comentario leí que entraba agua por los agujeros de la parte delantera, yo la he usado en dos ocasiones en las que llovía y no he tenido ese problema. En todo caso si entrase agua no pasaría del primer bolsillo. Los materiales y los acabados de la mochila son muy buenos y gracias a los tirantes reforzados la mochila no pesa tanto o al menos a mí los hombros no me duelen, cosa que con la anterior mochila que tuve era imposible. En cuanto al tamaño, solo puedo decir que es muy majo. La mochila es bastante amplia pero no tiene un tamaño exageradamente grande, es perfecto. Desde luego recomiendo esta mochila a todo aquel que esté buscando una para usar a diario y para llevársela de viaje. La calidad es muy buena y puede que parezca un poco cara, pero si realmente vas a usar la mochila a diario tienes que procurar mirar por tu salud y, sin ninguna duda, la calidad se paga. Yo uso mochila prácticamente todos los días, por eso no me importa pagar un poco más si cuando llego a mi casa por la noche no me duelen ni los hombros ni la espalda. Espero que esta opinión sea de ayuda.

If you are looking a laptop bag that provides incredible capacity, many separated compartments and is built to last - no need to search further. I read all the reviews on Amazon before buying this bag 6 months ago and it lives up to all of them. What do I carry in this bag - two 15" laptops with power supplies, a Kindle, noise cancelling headphones, power pack, kensington lock, bag of cables for all eventualities, pens, travel documents and one set of spare (lightweight) clothes when flying ... total weight usually over 10kg. In 6 months I have travelled internationally, using this as hand luggage (don't check the valuable stuff :-O ) and the same number of internal flights - this bag works fantastically. What is so great? Organisation - with all that stuff I can still find every item easily, there are 4 main compartments, 2 internal zipped compartments , +3 external 'small' compartments and 2 elasticated side pockets. The main laptop section secures two laptops and Kindle and PowerPack - at airport security they slide in and out really, really easily, which makes a big difference in that queue. There is a net pocket here that will hold power supplies and stylus so they are 'to hand' but won't fall out at security. The array of smaller zipped pockets ensure that I can drop my other valuables into the bag knowing they won't fall out whilst I am pulling the laptops in and out. There is one 'top' zipped, mid-size pocket that will hold passport, wallet, watch, security pass, shades, small cable, loose change, etc. that is incredibly useful. Downsides - it is a little heavy, I would not want to weigh this bag at check-in; when I pack all this stuff in it would probably not fit into those 'carry on bag gauges' (but might with a squash) but have never been stopped; there are a couple of zipped pockets so small I have never found a use for them, and the elasticated side pockets are not big enough for Camelback water bottles (my go to hydration packs) but many of the new aluminium, insulated drinks bottles fit perfectly. After 6mths - I have no serious complaint, nor are there any problems with zips, stitching, or material - simply the usual scuffs of daily use. Would I buy again - Yes - there is no doubt I would buy again, but not expecting to require that bag for many years! After 12mths of regular office use and four business trips there are no signs of wear, everything works just as day one, the plethora of zipped pockets and slip in pockets continues to amaze me, and organise as many as three laptops plus PSU, cables, mice, USB Power pack, etc. Copes with 15kg+ of bits and pieces. Continual use right up until "lockdown" this bag completed international trips, carried a huge load, without missing one stitch or zip problem. I would buy again but don't expect to need to for many years!

Je suis très content de mon achat! Je suis développeur et suis amené à beaucoup me déplacer et toujours avec ma machine. Celle ci est un 17.3" et je dois quand même regretter que c'est juste juste .... Sinon, sac avec de très belle finitions. J'avais un peu peur que le design ne soit pas très "tendance" mais au final sa sobriété est parfaite et assez discrète. L'espace disponible est ahurissant (actuellement ma machine tout mon câblage deux gros dossiers, ma gourde, mon déjeuner... TOUT rentre! je découvre tout les jours de nouveaux accès pratiques (trou à destination d’écouteurs accessible depuis deux poches, crochet pour clés ..) Un très grand plus pour la petite poche supérieure qui est un four tout idéal pour se libérer les mains et les poches . J'épprouve actuellement la robustesse et j'en suis très satisfait, je recommande

Eu adoro essa mochila, é a minha segunda. MUITO resistente, mas, ela também é pesadinha - mas, ela é bem estruturada já levei muito peso mesmo e com o meu computador sem dano nenhum.

Great backpack. Lasted me 4 years throughout university (still in decent condition). Has lots of space for laptop, textbooks, and binders with convenient storage at the top for quick access things.
