Barge All-Purpose TF Cement Rubber, Leather, Wood, Glass, Metal Glue 2 oz

I've used Barge Cement in the red & yellow 32 oz. can with the brush inside for years and am familiar with how it works. and it always worked great! But after repairing one or two pair of shoes, I was left with 30 oz in the can which got thick sitting in my workshop for a couple of years due to the solvent evaporating and I would go to use it and of course, it was too thick and "dry". Recently a good part of the sole on one of my Merrell waterproof shoes detached and of course my Barge Cement in a can was so thick it would hardly drip from the include brush (again). So, I was stuck with whether I should buy another 32 oz. can of Barge cement for $35-$40 so I could use 2 oz. or so to repair my shoes. In checking, I found this new formula (no Toluine) in a more reasonable size and for a more reasonable price. I was skeptical at first, particularly due to some of the bad reviews, and partially because of the new formula, but bought it anyway and it worked just as well as the original Barge Cement I was accustomed to using! 1) Clean the area 2) apply the glue thinly to both surfaces 3) let dry for 15-20 minutes 4) press the two surfaces together - if necessary, clamp them 5) let dry/cure overnight and then use them! Worked like a champ and saved myself around $30. Used my newly repaired shoes to walk the dog this morning! In reviewing some of the negative reviews, it seems the majority of them got old cement that's been sitting around a while, and the solvent had partially evaporated.

Easy to use and forms a good bond. Works well to repair the cork of my Birkenstocks.

Best product for repairing shoes and anything else requiring contact cement

I use this each time I am putting together a pair of boots and don't want to walk on that slick leather. This works pretty well for me. Sometimes near the edges I have to re-add other brands of glue after working the boots in and time goes on. I'm not sure how that would be for any other brand, just due to adding my own soles on, and cowboy boots not being ultimately as flat bottomed as typical boots. It works well enough for me and is my go-to. And this size usually gives me enough product to put on both the bottom of the boot and the rubber sole I'm prepared to fix to it. This is one product that I wish I could find in-stores not more often but in finding it at all. I never see this sold in-store, so it's onto Amazon to have some of this shipped yet fortunately it usually does ship for free, at least from the vendors I have purchased it from. The soles I have been using with this product are Vibram boot soles. Oh, one thing, also.. use this product as quickly as you can because like many of these squeeze container materials, it will eventually become sharp at the upper corner and break, then product will squeeze right out of that break hole. The same can be said about the bottom end. So maybe have multiple projects you need to apply this on lined up in one go, so you can get the most use out of this.

For years I've used it for leather and kydex projects and it is the best, by far, I've ever used.

This stuff works. I used it for repairs where normal glue fails and the bond is strong and durable once cured. Follow the directions (apply to both surfaces, let it tack up, then press) and it holds extremely well. Strong odor, so use ventilation and be precise—once it grabs, it’s not forgiving.

Good glue. Very durable and flexible. Dries in 10 min. with a very pleasant odor!

I'm sure that this glue is fabulous for some projects but it only did an ok job of repairing a Gucci bag strap which was splitting apart. It's surprisingly runny, extremely messy and dried to a tacky YELLOW. It is hard to get a clean application as there is an endless string of glue when you applied it, like the glue won't make a clean break. I see that some boast about how strong it is but 24 hours later and the glue that seeped from between the sandwiches halves of the strap are still sticky feeling and not clear, but yellow. Alcohol will remove extra but it's like trying to pull a rubber band consistency material off of leather. Maybe it was just too complicated a project for me and then again, maybe I should have used something else!

Brilliant glue. Fixed some shoes with it. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for.

I used this to seal a small hole in my inflatable mattress. Very thick viscous consistency and dried surprisingly quickly (1 drop dried completely in hours) and clear (not brittle, pliable). Worked perfectly!
