A necessary book for our times
This is not an easy subject to write about. Fr. Ripperger lays the ground work here. In the beginning he gives many important definitions which are critical to reading the rest of the book. Speaking of definitions, in studying things like the Catechism, one learns about Sacred Tradition, yet one does not come away with any skills in identifying what exactly encompasses Sacred Tradition. Many people will ask, aside from Sacred Scripture and some of the more obvious Magisterial pronouncements; what as a whole, encompasses Sacred Tradition. Fr. Ripperger offers a good beginning to that particular discussion;--- a nice gift for those who frequently get asked that question.Without getting into too much detail, let me say that I intend to re-read and linger a bit on certain areas of the book to better master the language of this subject. Considering our present situation in the Church, the language of this subject will become quite important. Folks might as well begin the process of mastering this language as soon as possible, b/c it will become the foundation of many corrections to come, and the foundation of many conversations with those in formation.

Revealing
Father Chad demonstrates how important tradition is and how little subtle errors that reject tradition end up in a shipwreck of the faith. This book is well worth reading and I think I might use it as a study in Tradition in my Parish. As a deacon, I really appreciate his insights and expertise.

This is a must read for Catholics being misled to reject their sacred tradition. Truthful and recommended reading for Catholics.

A good introduction.
A good, clear account of the position of the Church's magisterium and on the "democracy of the dead" as G.K Chesterton called Tradition. The philosophical basis is sound and what I have come to expect from F. Ripperger. All in all a good little introduction to the topic.

A sturdy seamless Garment.
This book by Fr.Ripperger belongs with his other two titles, Topics On Tradition and Magisterial Authority.A truly competent Scholar. He unearths, from virtual oblivion, the formidable Foundation of the Catholic Church. In the process, he shines a searing light on the the Novus Ordo NOVELTY that has insinuating itself in everyaspect of the Sacred Deposit of Faith of the Catholic Church. Novus Ordo/ Novelty is based on the seriouslyfaulty philosophies especially of Descartes, Kant, Schleirmacher, and Blondel who remained locked up in the SELF(the mind; the emotions/ feelings). Whereas the Church's Sacred Deposit of Faith is based on reality OUTSIDE the human mind and focuses on Creation, the Redemption, Salvation History as found in Sacred Tradition, Sacred Scripture, and Sacred Magisteria Teaching (of the Popes; the Saints).
