Black Widow Aluminum Motorcycle Hitch Carrier with Ramp for eBike, 400 lb

Have used it several times on the back of my Forester Wilderness...works great. Love having it off the ground and 95% of the bike is in the slipstream of the car so minimal drag. Got a locking hitch pin and Kryptonite chain so I can leave it on overnight.

Very easy to assemble. Best to use 2 people when loading bike like they recommend in the instructions. Took 4 days to get to our distanation, bike (Yamaha TW 200) stayed solid as a rock the whole time. Very pleased and highly recommend the Black Widow Bike Carrier.

TL;DR Worked very well with a 250lb bike. Overall a solid rack once the hardware is upgraded. Poor padding in the box left it with tons of scratches. Bolts provided are lowest rated. I recommend replacing them with higher grade for a minimal cost. Pay attention to the orientation when assembling so the bike front end and ramp are where you want them. Watch for sharp edges when walking around it. While the rack worked out well, had I not been in a hurry I would probably have purchased the harbor freight one which is normally less than this ramp and currently on sale for $100. It provides easier ramp storage at the expense of a shorter ramp. I needed this in a hurry to cart around a YZ450F on the back of a Honda CRV. I went with this mostly because of the 2 day shipping. The box came wrapped in plastic ties and tape on all seams. Looked solid. Not so upon opening. The Styrofoam pieces were pretty much destroyed. There were so many scratches in the aluminum I thought maybe this was previously returned. But all the hardware was there and no obvious signs of actual installation. So I'm guessing it came like this new. Install was a piece of cake. Be careful not to over-tighten the bolts holding the rack to the support bracket so you don't end up messing up the aluminum. ****BE WARNED**** the bolts it comes with are class 4.8 which is pretty much the lowest grade you can buy. I would never feel comfortable using those bolts. I urge you to run to your auto parts store and pick up at least class 8.8 equivalent for all the bolts. For less than $15 I bought all class 10.9 yellow zinc flanged hex bolts. Here are the sizes and quantities: 4 - M8x1.25x40 8 - M8x1.25x20 (If you're using lock washers you might want to bump the length up from 20 to 30 to accommodate the washer) Mine came with nylon lock nuts which means I didn't need lock washers. If you have regular nuts I recommend replacing them with nylon locking nuts or picking up some lock washers. When you are assembling, be aware of the rack orientation. The front wheel goes in the big gap. If you put the big gap on the drivers side, the ramp has to mount between the car and the rack. If you put the big gap on the passenger side the ramp mounts on the opposite side furthest away from the car. I chose the drivers side so the ramp would be hidden and because having the front end of the bike on the drivers side leaves the most visibility our the rear window. The instructions weren't clear how the ramp is bolted on. I ended up putting the bolt through the rack with a nut on the other side, which left the bolt permanently installed in the rack with a bit of exposed threads. Then I line up the ramp holes with those bolts and use the wingnuts to hold the ramp in place. It's held up perfectly this way so far. It's not hard at all for me to use the wingnuts but it is time consuming to screw them on and off. I also worry that the threads will wear pretty fast given the weak steel of the bolt and constant inserting of the bolt through the ramp holes. There is no doubt a better way this could have been done. To tie down the bike I used 4 non-ratcheting tie-downs and 2 short rubber bungee cords. 2 of the tie downs go on the handlebars, 1 per side, closest to the center of the bar I could get. The other 2 went from where the frame piece running along the airbox from the rear fender meets the main frame, about 8 inches above the foot peg. I pushed down on the bike as I tightened to make sure it wasn't going anywhere. To be extra safe, I placed a short bungie through each tire and around the rack to make sure they never pick up. The bike was rock solid. Made it no problem for a 300 mile round trip which included about 8 miles of off-roading in the desert. Total confidence that everything would hold. The anti-tilt bracket was chintzy but totally worked fine. I thought for sure it would come loose and lose a bolt while driving. But it held tight for the entire trip. So in the end this carrier worked well for me. I'm happy with it but it took a bit of extra work and cost a bit more than some of the competition. EDIT: Added a star. The rack worked flawlessly for years, the screws holding the ramp didn't strip out as I expected. I got rear-ended a couple days ago, the rack took pretty much all the damage and even though it bent all up, it still held the bike. I'm buying the same rack again so that says something.

This carrier is awesome. Purchased it initially for a work project and couldn't be happier with it. For starters, when I received it, to make it look a little nicer, I spray painted the steel bits black and added some reflective DOT tape to make sure I was plenty visible at night, where the bike slightly blocks my truck's tail lights and I was going to be driving a notoriously dangerous canyon highway at night. Turned out looking great, and I feel like the reflective tape is a must-do modification. As someone that had never transported a motorcycle before, I was a bit worried about the tie down locations. Being so close to the bike, I couldn't see how it would be stable and supported well, front-to-back. To my surprise, my bike was solid as a rock, using ratcheting tie downs. I hardly even compressed the bike's suspension and it held great, with very little movement. My first use with this thing was a 250 mile stretch of 65 mph, very tight, windy canyon road. I was admittedly very nervous about this stretch, but the carrier worked great. The bike didn't really move at all. The only times it did were in the hardest of corners, where I noticed the handle bars would turn slightly, but it'd straighten right back up. Loading and unloading was a lot easier than I expected. I'm only 5'8" and was using this on a relatively tall 2014 F150 and I was worried I'd have a hard time reaching the handles once it got up on the carrier. I also thought I'd need to power the bike up the ramp. Both were non-issues. I could easily walk my Yamaha XT225 up the ramp, unassisted, could reach fine, and could even strap it down pretty effortlessly with one person as well. Unloading was definitely easier with two people, though. The front wheel really sinks into the front of the carrier well, which is great for stability, but it takes a little more effort to get it out when you're alone. It also definitely helps to unload it forward, instead of trying to back it down. Overall, for the price, I couldn't be any happier with this carrier. I don't doubt there are better made ones, but for a fraction of the cost, this does an awesome job. I'll definitely get my money's worth out of this carrier, and would recommend it.

Easy to assemble, pretty lightweight. I would say its about 30 pounds. Feels very sturdy. Very happy with it so far.

I bought the Black Widow aluminum motorcycle rack after researching many brands, of both aluminum and steel. We will use the rack to transport our 200cc motor scooter that weighs approximately 300lbs, on the 2-inch hitch receiver of our 2017 Ford Edge and our 2020 33ft Class-C RV. I wanted as light weight rack as possible to keep the accumulated cargo weight of our RV as low as possible... 20lbs here and there add up to a ton quickly when outfitting an RV. The difference in weight between an aluminum and a steel rack is 20-30 lbs. The difference on capacity is 400 vs 500 lbs. To be clear; the aluminum rack is a combination with steel tube main support and aluminum track and ramp. The steel versions are all steel. Being our scooter weighs 300lbs, I was comfortable with the aluminum rated at 400lbs. I have used the rack twice so for, behind our Ford Edge. It worked like a dream. The anti-rattle collar is easy to use, and virtually eliminates rattling. The ramp can be used on either side which is very convenient. The two minor complaints are: 1. The small wing nuts that stow the removable ramp. I feel the need to tighten them very tightly with my fingers, so they do not back off and fall off due to vibrations during transport. I then cannot loosen them with my fingers at the end of the trip and must dig out some pliers... Just for the 2 small wing nuts. 2. The corners of the aluminum track are very sharp, which gave me a nice bloody scratch on my first use. 5 minutes with a file, I rounded the sharp corners away. Overall I love the rack, would buy again and would highly recommend!

Works great for fat tire e-bike without the outrageous cost compared to other bike racks. Strapped mine down like a motorcycle and drove 1500 miles without incident.

I was nervous picking up a brand-new motorcycle on an inexpensive rack. However, the build quality was better than expected for this price point. I carried a 330lb dual sport 400+ miles on the rack safely. Note: there is a piece of metal that is tightened down on to the hitch to help stabilize the rack. I thought I torqued it enough, but it loosened up during the trip. However, that didn't seem in impact anything. Just next time, I may get some nylon lock nuts and torque it higher just to be safe.

Fácil manejo y rápido montaje al vehiculo

安ぽさなくこの価格なら必要十分だと思います。 日本の輸入代行さんも親切にご対応頂き大変助かりました。 パレットに削ったような目立つ傷があるので星一つ落としましたが良品です。

Read a couple of low star reviews which were concerning for QC but they were several years old. Jumped in anyway since the Princess Auto rack is so terrible. This is a massive upgrade in every way. Light, well made, easy to assemble. The holes were all drilled to good tolerance. Thr materials appear high quality. The weight and rigidity is fantastic. Works great for Surron. I removed 1 horizontal beam for the rear wheel to seat more stable.

All good works GR8
