Fast and quiet and easy to set up - "I love this printer!"
HP M553n - Fast and quiet and easy to set up. And - it comes with the toner already in the machine. I got it set up on the network with a dynamic network address. Then I called my IT guy and he remotely gave it a static address and made it accessible to the other workstations on the network. No issues, no drama. It just works. Quietly. The print quality is great for our office. It holds a whole ream of good quality paper. It is easy to print a letterhead first page using the side slot. The cords exit from the left side as you face the printer (making the left side the ugly side). This is different than the last three printers that I had in this location. 7/21/17 update: The original toner cartridges last as at least as long as the "extended" cartridges for the OKI C531. And I REALLY like this: At the end of what it considers the life of the cartridge, it gives you the option of printing between 50 and 300 (you can choose) more pages before it warns you again. And then you can "snooze" the alarm again and again if the printing still looks good. What a brilliant, customer-friendly feature! I actually walk around the office saying "I love this printer!" That's a first. When I next need a multi-function printer, I hope to get an HP MFP as close as possible to the M553n.

Print shop quality at an insanely low price
So far... I am beyond thrilled. The quality EXCEEDS that of the professional print shop I'd been using. I print illustrations and bind them into art books. There are more configuration options for color management that I can even comprehend (it's truly a professional grade printer) but luckily printing from Acrobat and letting either Acrobat or the printer handle color management has yielded fine results. I probably haven't even scratched the surface. 1200dpi! I bet your professional printer isn't even using 1200x1200 capable equipment! I print on heavy 67lb Vellum Bristol card stock and it handles it just fine, zero jams unlike the 452 I had prior. And the price?!? It comes with 4 FULL toner carts, which retail at over $700 by themselves! I got over 5000 full color prints out of the "starter" carts before they were empty, and I print at 50% or more coverage. I wish I'd skipped the 452 and just gotten this beast, the savings in toner alone would've paid for itself thrice over by now. When/if the wireless version is available for not much more ill probably upgrade, but wired printing suits my purposes for now. This can connect to a network with an ethernet cable and you'd technically then have wireless printing provided you have the router and equipment, but this printer is NOT wireless capable in and of itself. Tip: a lot of people ask; "can it print on card stock". You need to find out the GSM spec of the paper you're wanting to print on, the LB rating is meaningless and has nothing to do with the actual thickness of the paper. So far I've printed on up to 220 gsm (the heaviest stuff out there) with no issues, but I suspect a 144gsm/67 lb Vellum Bristol is the heaviest you'd want to go if you're printing at that weight on a regular, constant basis.

A Good Printer With One Caveat.
This is a good printer like many HP laserjets. It prints fast and clearly. Setup was easy. But one thing that is not clear in the description of the product is that it will only print legal size paper from the side drawer. I needed the full 500 sheet drawer to print legal. So I was obliged either to return it or order a drawer 3 which has both a 550 sheet capacity and prints legal size paper. This drawer costs an additional $300. They have a 553X printer which comes with the third drawer. That and the high cost of HP toners are all that I can say against the printer.

Junk
Great output for the first 100 pages, then wide magenta bands appeared on pages. Help system is a bad joke. Ordered new magenta toner for $130 and will see if that fixes the problem then try to get my money back for that. Update: HP support diagnosed the problem as a transfer belt and said they could ship me one within 30 days. I pushed back hard and they had one to me one week later. I had to install it myself using videos from HP website. It took an hour but I got it. One month later, the problem recurred and I went ballistic, forcing HP to dispatch a technician to my office. The part arrived two days later, the technician appeared the next day, he swapped out the one month old transfer belt for another one and....the same result. The technician recommended a new toner cartridge, which he did not have but which I did. He threw out the original magenta toner that showed 100% on the supplies report, inserted the new cartridge and it appears to have fixed the problem. He claims HP is sending me a new toner cartridge. I decided to spend $39 for a two year extended warranty at HP's website. (It's advertised as three years, but coexists with the original one year warranty, so it's really just the second and third year.)

Extremely fast high quality printer
It was packed very securely. I did not hook it up right away as I was awaiting the death of my old printer. Once I got the bugs worked out of my network, the printer works like a dream. It is done printing before I even think about it. It is every bit as fast as advertised, and that will be wonderful as tax season (I am an accountant) approaches.

A really great printer
A really nice printer. The quality, both black and white, and color, is excellent. The first page is produced in about 5 seconds even when the printer is coming out of lower power, standby mode. The price of the printer is extremely reasonable. When you are ready to buy, search the Internet, folks in NYC may have it for less at times. The printer is an excellent replacement for an ink jet printer since the savings in ink will pay for the printer many times over. At this moment I consider this printer to be the best value in a color, laser printer. When you have purchased the printer, download the driver installation package from HP's website to make sure you get the latest. Download the latest firmware as well, so that you can start out with the latest software on the printer, although my guess is that the older versions work acceptably. These sorts of steps are standard advice for any software driven device today.

Does not come with cable
This printer is good but has some annoying set up issues. The biggest problem is that it does not come with a USB cable, so I had to waste 30 minutes out of my life to buy a USB cable just to use the printer. Extremely annoying. Another annoying feature is that the power switch, which is on the front of the machine, blinks when it is in standby mode. If you have the printer on your desk, this is intolerable. I had to tape a piece of cardboard over the switch. Pluses: * The printer supports Windows XP Yay! Not only that, if you use XP the machine does not spy on you the way the Windows 7/8/10 versions do. I had no problems using the setup CD that came with the printer and works in Windows XP. * The printer is very quiet and goes in and out of standby promptly. * It has good feed mechanisms and is able to handle card stock. * It prints very fast and the print quality is good. * It has a side feeder tray that flips out. So, you can leave paper in the main tray and then feed labels, envelopes and card stock into the side tray when you need to. The main tray holds a full ream of paper and the side tray can hold about 50 envelopes. * The printer is expandable in various ways. For example, you can add a second main paper try to the bottom of the printer. You can also expand the memory from 1 GB to 2 GB.
