Do the steps squish a lot when climbed on? Are they sturdy?

They squish, but not so much that I would consider them unsafe when being used by the intended age range. My 15 month twins each weigh about 25 lbs and they climb all over this with no issues.

well I brought this item for my Grandson and he used it all the time my daughter loved it it made it easy for him to get in and out of his daybed and his bed
