Great story to teach kids about their feelings and the feelings of others.

Picked this up at the library without opening it. I thought it was about different animals sounds. A quick read-through told me that he probably wouldn't like this book. After we went through all his other library books, I decided to give this one a try. To my surprise, my son asked me to read this 5 times in a row. I could see him empathizing with the little boy. The illustrations are simple, but with a few lines and soft primary colors the artist effectively conveys the different emotions. You can practically hear the what the little boy is experiencing. I understand that the previous reviewer did not like that the parents were yelling. Ideally, kids should not be subjected to angry, yelling parents, but life can messy and this book is sympathetic to some of negative and scary things that kids encounter in life.

We just got this from the local library. I didn't like it. It is about loud noises that can be scary and shows the father and mother yelling with the child visibly frightened. The advice is to sit down and close your eyes. I don't know something about the daddy yelling while the child hides behind the mothers legs didn't sit right with me.
