This is next-level spice! It brings your cooking from good, to wow, next level great! This paprika is sooo much better than the powder. I use it to make so many things,of course, the main one being paprikash. But I also use it in my cabbage rolls, meatloaf, meatballs, tacos, soups, and I even use a little in my macaroni salad. This brings out that unami fullness to any dish. A little squirt goes a long way.

My husband's aunt left Hungary and moved to the US back in the 1960s, when she was in her early 30s. She was a wonderful cook and used this brand of paprika paste in many of her recipes. I am so glad it's available on Amazon because it's one of the best flavor enhancers you can buy. I use it in many recipes, most often in chicken paprikash, beef stew, and ham and bean soup. The ham and bean soup is my favorite, made with onion, bell peppers, celery, garlic, chopped tomatoes, the bone from a Honey Baked ham, about half a pound of chopped Honey Baked ham, ham bouillon, a 16-bean pack of dried beans, cumin, chili, and 3 or 4 tablespoons of paprika paste, slowly simmered for about 8 hours, and served with a sprinkling of chopped cilantro and homemade cornbread. Mmmmm . . . so good!

Great, authentic paprika paste, similar to tomato paste in utility. Only thing to consider when cooking with this is that it contains a significant amount of salt. If you substitute this paste for paprika powder, don't add salt until the end when you taste test. Kind of like salted or unsalted butter makes you have to be careful how much salt you add to a recipe.According to the markings, it has about 0.1 teaspoons of salt per tablespoon of paprika paste. That doesn't seem like a lot, but I have several recipes that heavily depend on paprika, so I may use 3-4 tablespoons in a recipe. If you substitute 1:1 paste for powder, that's 1/3 teaspoon of salt.

After living in Hungary and learning to cook traditional food using this paprika paste, I was sad to learn that the paprika available in the US is vastly inferior. Without this paprika paste, my Hungarian food just doesn't have the right flavor. This paste gives a richness and boldness to dishes that can't be achieved with the powdered paprika available here. It is very salty, but that means that no other salt is needed. Yes, it's expensive, but it's cheaper than a plane ticket to Budapest.

Just what I wanted!

The only way somebody could say it’s too salty is because when they were making their dish, they didn’t not use salt until the end, and that’s on them not the product that they don’t know how to cook correctly. I made beef, curry and Aloo methi potatoes and added some of the paste to both. My friend loved the beef curry, but loved even more the potatoes, and said they were the best she ever had. Just don’t salt much till the end.

I read reviews before buying and one caught my eye stating product is very salty. This is accurate; it IS VERY salty. Season your finished goulash or you may find yourself eating an unpalatable dish! I used it sparingly thanks to accurate reviews! I also read it is expensive. I do not agree as the (3) tubes are generous. Be careful when opening tube as mine squirted all over the floor (I live in high humidity). My dogs were delighted but not surprisingly turned their noses up to the paste, leaving them disappointed!😂
