A little thought involved but works well.
This is a generic replacement for my Admiral rebranded as a Wards evaporator fan part # 56488-3. This is just the motor and I needed to re-use the fam. There was some initial consteration as the motor shaft diameter is smaller than the original OEM unit. The parts included a pastic bushing that said Fridgedair only but it worked for mine too. I thought the fit of the bushing might be too loose but once the fan was pressed on (by hand) over the bushing it all felt snug. The Supco can be altered to revese the motor rotation but the default rotation matched mine, clockwise. The mounting was also an initial concern. My unit has a mounting bracket that attached in the same place as the bolts hodking the Supco together and the original unit had standoffs for the attachment to the mount. The Supco kit had a double threaded standoff, one end treaded onto the Supco bolts, the other end was threaded correctly for the OEM bolts that attached the mounting plate.I did not cut off the original wire connectors and use the supplied wire nuts, instead I crimped on the correct flat blade donnectors on to the Supco wires allowing them to attach to the freezer wire connectors.I can't speak to longevity, but seem to be a well thought out kit and for the price paid to rejuvinate the 1985 vintage refrigerator, awsome.

Replaces Howard Industries motor
The media could not be loaded. I am very happy I purchased this motor. I have been looking for a motor for my 70’s era Frigidaire refrigerator model FPN 146TN. I took a chance on buying this motor because I was not sure it would replace my obsolete motor. The pictures I included show my old motor and the assembly steps of the new motor. A small bag was packed with a lot of hardware which would be enough for most replacement applications.I had to remove the mounting plate from the old motor and install it on the new motor enclosure. For my particular assembly, I found the instructions very vague. I had to make some assumptions about how to assemble the parts but quickly figured it out.I disassembled the motor and put a very light coat of automotive wheel bearing grease on the shaft where the bearings would run. There wasn’t any screws included to mount the fan to the plastic hub. The original fan mounting screws from the old motor were too small in diameter. I had 2 short sheet metal screws on hand to mount the fan to the hub.All of the cast mounting ears were gently broken off to be able to assemble the motor in the plastic enclosure. The motor shaft was cut to its shortest pre-scored length. Attempting to snap off the shaft at the predetermined length was a bit of a challenge. I was concerned I would bend the shaft. Instead, I clamped the protruding length of the shaft in the vise and cut it off with a fine tooth hacksaw.I bench tested the motor before installing it in my freezer compartment. It ran smoothly and quietly. If the need arises to buy another motor, I will purchase this motor again.

Instructions were easy to follow
I got this motor based on comments made in forums regarding non-OEM replacement motors.Instructions were easy to follow, and there were plenty of small hardware bits to make installation a "breeze". Easy to retrofit to Maytag fridge using a piece of metal strapping bent to almost-match original one. Fan blows powerfully, so lower compartment actually gets cold now without having to dial it up. Motor is louder than original, but that should be par for the course if you are actually going to have realistic power. At least we are no longer wondering if it is working or not.Too early to tell if Supco motor will outlast OEM replacement part as we have been using it for only a month or so, but as we have already gone through two OEMs in the last 7 years, we remain hopeful. Besides, the price was right, coming in at about 15% of OEM.

Long lasting and easy to modify
I have been using these evaporator fans for years. They are easy to modify and last at least as long as OEM fans if installed correctly. Just make sure they rotate the correct way, which is easily reversed by reversing the armature. Another point is to be sure when adjusting the shaft length by breaking along one of the breakpoints, use two pliers on the shart so you don't put any strain on the bushings or you will drastically shorten its service length.

Thumbs up!
It works perfectly fine! Replace the old one and now the fridge would last me longer than I thought!

Replaced whirlpool fan with some work
The old fan died, which made it challenging to figure out what direction this was supposed to go. The two screws that hold the fan together, align perfectly with the old bracket but they were too short. There are some extensions included that might have worked, but instead just replaced the screws with longer ones and used an extra nut to keep the bracket in place. Snip off the old fan wires, and simply attach this one.The instructions are somewhat clear, although they could be better as I think this is aimed at older appliances. After installing it, and having barely below zero temps, reversed it and solved the problem in hours.Don't like how its all exposed, and the cover didnt seem to fasten to anything but we'll see how long this lasts for. Its 1/6 the price of the actual fan.
