Really great knives
This is my third knife from Southern Grind, and my second Spider Monkey (I also have the copper drop point). They make some really amazing tools. Knives feel sturdy and very well made. They are also hair popping sharp right out of the box. After a little break in, a little Knife Pivot Lube (or other lubricant) and very minor pivot adjustment you can get fall-shut action with bank-vault lockup. Two minor complaints. First, the edges of the handle, the liners, and the thumb stud are all uncomfortably sharp. I have found that running the corner of a small ultra-fine sharpening stone around the inside of the liners helps a lot - especially on the lock bar, where your thumb has to put pretty significant pressure to disengage. Second, you have to buy a special tool to disassemble them. It's not outrageously expensive, but it's irritating, when 95% of knives use one (or more) of about 5 sizes of torx bits. Otherwise this is a really great daily cary knife.

Great company, Great Cause, so so knife
Very well made knife that I really want to like. Has great action. Detent is a bit weak and you can shake the blade open. Not a deal breaker for me but the uneven blade grind from a near $200 knife is very disappointing. I have budget folders from Civivi, CJRV, Tangram, Two Sun, Bestech and others that have better fit and finish. To make things more frustrating, this vendor does not offer the option to replace. Really considering returning this knife. What keeps me holding on to it is Zac Brown's charity efforts through Camp Southern Grind. As a knife enthusiast I'm a bit disappointed. But if my frivolous hobby can benefit the community, I'm all for it. All in all, a great company producing a very attractive knife with below average quality control. If you see this as a $100 knife with a donation to a great cause. It makes this purchase alot more palatable.UpdateThe vendor has reached out to me and offered to replace my purchase. They even paid for the return shipping. Outstanding customer service.

A perfect EDC
I’ve been looking for a new EDC knife. My criteria were: tanto blade, made in America, not benchmade (because of their politics and also because their product line has gotten stale), and more interesting material than G10. It’s like Southern Grind read my mind. This knife is fantastic. It feels great in the hand, and the pictures of the carbon fiber handle don’t do it justice.
