Changed my thinking about dental health 100%!
I have read more helpful information regarding dental health in Ramiel Nagal's books than in all of my big (and pricey) pile of so-called "healthy diet" books. In clear, non-ambiguous and well-supported language -- and drawing from his own personal and family experience -- Nagal explains that gum health is the product of balanced "mouth and blood PH." He offers very convincing evidence that diet matters when it comes to maintaining dental AND bodily health. The book includes copious suggestions and rationale for the non-SAD diet, ranging from bare-bones simple for minor gum/tooth issues to "all-in" aggressive for severe dental problems. It isn't news that sugar and processed carbohydrates are much to blame for dental woes, but very surprising is how damaging extensive and/or invasive dental procedures can be to our oral and bodily health and well-being. Nagal does not demonize dentists, but gives suggestions for finding and choosing dentists that support a more holistic approach to tooth health, along with questions you can ask your dentist in order to be on the same page with him/her for dental health.Due to ongoing gut issues related to wheat and dairy, my diet has been restricted; pursuing a dairy- and wheat-free version of the Weston Price diet (after a long stretch vegan/vegetarianism) has helped tremendously. However, I still struggle with a sweet tooth, necessitating filling at least three or four cavities over the past few years because of my indulgence. And, since I still have all my wisdom teeth and it is difficult to do a good job of thorough brushing in that area, I developed sensitivity in one that was so severe that I dreaded dental cleanings for fear the hygienist would scrape it with one of her instruments and cause me to jump out of the chair. In the end, I allowed the dentist to apply a composite layer over the spot and it has been better, but the gum around the tooth area remained a bit spongy and prone to bleeding. I was thus anxious to try Nagal's dietary suggestions and am happy to say that after ten days eating to balance the PH in my mouth I went for my six-month cleaning and -- hallelujah! -- the sensitivity was nearly non-existent and the gum area has improved.I encourage anyone who has chronic or even nagging minor dental issues to read both of his books and especially his information for children. My granddaughter at age seven lost one of her primary (thank goodness not secondary) teeth because it rotted. As she is picky about food and her diet has been composed mainly of processed carbohydrates, fruit and grain products, it was very easy to deduce that the decay was related to unbalanced oral chemistry. Needless to say, I bought Nagal's book for her parents so that they can make changes now that will benefit her and her younger sister's total health for years to come. In short, I highly recommend this book and his other book, Cure Tooth Decay.

Eye opening!
If you're looking for your dental care to be integrated into your whole body integrated care, this book educates and educates and educates. I've spent the entire week reading carefully through this book and his other book, Cure Tooth Decay. Both are outstanding! Before you let a dentist tell you your treatment plan, empower yourself and know that you can take immediate steps naturally. There are MANY natural options available that could potentially save you much pain, money and more importantly, your health. The cost of purchasing the book is minuscule compared to the ever mounting expenses you can realize in obtaining traditional dental care.I'm terrified of dentists and needed to obtain a 2nd and even 3rd opinion for my treatment. After consulting with three dentists this past week, each one recommending progressively more aggressive treatments one after the other, I knew I needed to look for other more gentler alternatives. As I read thru the books, I made changes and implemented treatment plans that I could start at home. In just one week, I see positive results and now understand how and why my dental condition came to be. I still have a long ways to go, but at least now I'm not as terrified and I know I there are alternatives I can pursue.Do yourself a favor and read this book. You'll be glad you did!

Great Book, good for overall health
I got gum disease as a result of poor eating habits. Periodontist was ready to do surgery. Looked like it would be a never ending problem, no real cure. I cleaned up my diet, read this book. The author sees gum disease as a whole body health problem. I believe this book has good ideas for anyone who wants to improve their overall health or fight any disease problem. $18. book saved me at least $1,000. plus the pain and misery of gum surgery and probably future gum surgeries. Well worth it! Ideas are based a lot on the the book "Nutrition and Physical Degneration," a solid foundation.

It works!
I'll go to the dentist soon, and then will really see how this has helped, but I can already tell these practices have made my gums healthier at some level! No more bleeding, even though I'm 8 months pregnant now!!! No more flabby gums or loose feeling teeth. THANK YOU.UPDATE: The dentist exam showed only size 1-2 pockets, not 4-6! I was so excited as she called out the numbers. I told her about what I had learned here, but she said diet had nothing to do with the change.I even asked, "Didn't you tell me the gum disease was incurable?""Yes.""And it's better now, after my natural remedies?""Well, those don't help at all. Even if you came 4 times a year and had scaling and planing, it wouldn't cure it."She couldn't admit this worked, but there's no other explanation!
