Crimp like a pro

I bought this to do my first pex pipe job, a large renovation project that involved two new bathrooms and moving the water heater and laundry room, so a lot of plumbing. Not the easiest tool to use, but it does the job. Almost identical in design and function to a bolt cutter. It is difficult to use in tight spots because a full spread of the levers is required. In several places I had to use expensive Shark Bite fittings instead of copper crimp rings when I either couldn't get the jaws around the crimps or there was inadequate space to spread the levers.Now that I own this and the companion Conbraco pex crimp cutting tool all of my plumbing projects will be pex.

The hole where the adjustment pin goes has cracked open. I noticed that a crimp I did failed the go-no go gauge test so I went to adjust the pin from 0 to 1. When I looked I found that the crimp jaw itself had failed. This is with very light homeowner usage. I bought the 75 pack of crimp rings when I bought this and I haven’t used half of them yet. It is supposed to be under warranty but I’m still trying to go through that and in the meantime I either don’t get hot water to a bathroom or I have to go buy a new tool. Very disappointing for what otherwise looks like a well made tool.

Worked flawlessly. Not great for tight areas but will get the job done no problem

Handles are a little short which makes it a little bit harder to cramp but otherwise than that works great

I ordered a small apple pex climp !!!!! And they send me a different one !!!! More bigger!! I like the small one on the picture I ordered this is different!!!! So I guess I’m going to use it any way!!!! I don’t like it because is not the same on the picture I ordered 😕

it works well, but if you are in a tight spot look out, a little planning during installation will help. If you need it for a repair in an older home this may not be the option because of how far the handles need to spread to engage the ratchet for a proper crimp, but the price is right.
