Tableaux de Chasse Ou La Vie Extraordinaire de Fernand Legros (Romans, Nouvelles, Recits (Domaine Francais)) (French Edition)
Product ID: 160827692
French Review: Fernand Legros, as seen through the eyes of Fernand Legros - Being Peyrefitte the tale is of course completely engrossing, but it's a one-sided account as seen from Legros' point of view, and there lies the rub. A substantial amount is patently untrue, as may be seen if you read "L'Amour du Faux" the equally engrossing book subsequently written to set the record straight by Real Lessard, Legros's boyfriend and dupe,, who was induced to and then bullied and blackmailed into painting all the fakes that Legros palmed off as genuine articles. Evidently the only part the notorious Elmyr de Hory played in the scam was to apply the signatures of the various purported artists. Lessard is renamed "Julien" in Peyrefitte's book, and is made to look like a villain, whereas in actuality he was the victim of Legros' schemes, something the courts recognized when international law and French justice finally caught up with him. Read both books if you can. They make for a fascinating comparison. Review: capolavoro - un libro interessantissimo
