Works well
I am not an HVAC professional, but I wanted something that would help me find refrigerant leaks and I didn't need an expensive sniffer. This product was the right price and had the sensitivity that I wanted. I checked this against a system I knew had a slow leak and it found the leak in a location I hadn't expected. When you hear an increase in beep frequency then you know something leaking there. A good item to have in your tool kit.

"Good enough" for DIY work, but not for precision work
This detector helped me isolate an HVAC leak on my car, but it was a pain to use. I had a lot of random false positives with it, so I needed to shut it off, let the air settle, and go at it several times to kind of pin-point what was real and what was false. After messing about for an hour or so, it did help me to confirm a known leak and locate two suspected ones. The sensitivity of the unit isn't the best if you have a very slow leak (say, losing only 1 PSI a week) -- I had to hold the unit near the suspected leak points and bend the A/C lines to kind of convince the refrigerant to leak faster. I had a very slow leak in the evap as well, which it didn't detect until I ran the car A/C for about 15 minutes and let the refrigerant build up after shutting it off. I give this four stars solely based off value for money here. It isn't anywhere near as good as the $800 tool truck product your auto tech will be using, so you might be better off going to a shop and just paying the diagnosis fee to locate the leaks. If you are determined to DIY, then this tool will work -- with a lot of patience.

Does what it is supposed to
Sensor worked very well to find tiny a/c leaks at connections in my vehicles a/c system, completely satisfied, saved a bundle.
