Decent light, powerful enough
I wish the lights were independently dimmable, but there's only so much one can expect here. The lights get bright enough for my use case, looking at insect specimens through a dissecting microscope. The light itself is fairly compact, it fits well on my desk behind my scope. Be aware that you will need to pay attention to which light is labeled L and which is R -- I did not see the labels and spent some time trying to fit the wrong gooseneck into the light slot. Overall I like it.

improvement
I have been doing rework for years. with time, we switched from 0805 to 0603, to 0402 t0 0201 , now I am working with 01005. I have boom microscope that magnifes up to x45 , x 90 if you change the eyepieces from x10 to x20. I never used x20 because the image is too dimm and the microscope head is too low for soldering. These are the 2 main problems with my microscope. Originally it came with fluorescent tube iluminator ring. It was ok but I replaced it with LED ring. LED ring is much brighter than fluorescent but still gets in the way of soldering iron. Still at the maximum magnification the image gets dimm. I replaced LED ring with the gooseneck iluminator today. 2 observations: 1. the old LED ring created wide diffused field of light. the goosenecks create 2 very intense spotlights. when directed at the same spot from 2 angles the image is bright, even at the max. magnification, and no shadows. 2. I used zip ties to tie the the goosenecks to the microscope support structure behind the microscope head. I also tied the tubes to the microscope boom higher up. That makes the setup very stable - once you bend the tubes to the right position, it stays there. Othervise they are easy to knock around. That resulted in much more room for manuvering the soldering iron. I showed the illuminator to other people in the lab. They liked it and most likely will buy it. Money well spent.

It's an OK product, but not great value
If the headline doesn't show a lot of enthusiasm for the AmScope light, you are correct. The best low cost products are OK performers but deliver a lot of value. I think this product is OK (I am not planning to return it), but it is pretty expensive for what it does. I would have preferred brighter lamps, but I couldn't justify the added cost. On the plus side the controls seem to work well and the lamp brightness exceeds my minimum requirement. The base is a bit on the light weight side. On the negative side, I DONT LIKE ALL OF THE TRACKING ADS I HAVE SEEN SINCE I ORDERED THIS ITEM. I must have seen over two hundred pictures of it in just over a week, on every imaginable web site. Often there will be 5 or 6 on the same page. AmScope has probably spent $0.02 on all those ads, but I will think hard before I visit their website again.

Good price and very sturdy!
If you need a light source for working on small objects or for illumination for a reflecting microscope, you need this. I purchased this for work with both AmScope 20X to 80X Binocular Stereo Microscope for additional illuminated and also to use for other fine work that I do that needs illumination. I recently purchased a biological microscope from Amazon that had plenty of transmitted light but no reflective light. This is an LED light with plenty of power and has adjustable brightness. Would recommend this to anyone needing to use reflective light in their work. The price is well worth it and I was surprised at the heavy weight and sturdy build of the unit.

Very practical
I have been using several types of microscope lights: fluorescent, quartz-halogen and LED. This light from AmScope has the following characteristics: - Good light output, especially for an LED light, which have generally not been as bright as quartz-halogen - Fairly long goose-neck (24" compared to my older 12" goose-neck LED light - Low power consumption, less heat; no cooling fan, no vibration - variable light output - expected to be rugged: LED's should last a long time. What I would be even nicer: - longer goose-neck, say 36" - 12V DC power option. Overall, a highly recommended product.

Good and bad points of purchase
I received this microscope light timely and that is good. It seems to work well, and that is also good. BUT There was nothing other than the product in the package. There was no instruction on how to assemble - I figured it out myself. There was no owner's manual. There was no receipt. Is there a warranty from the manufacturer? There was no information on what to do or how to return the product had there been a problem.

Good dual gooseneck lights for Swift Microscopes!
I have the Swift SW380T microscope with an LED light source from the bottom. Great scope however, sometimes the items to be viewed block that light where you need to have a light source from the top. This is where the dual gooseneck lights come in handy as shown in my pics. The only small issue is the placement of the control unit that must be located at the rear of the microscope, which is not a problem, but does kind of get in the way of the microscope power cord. As shown, it works just fine, but it could be redesigned a little better. I’m still glad I got this gooseneck light!

Barely rates an OK
This light just gets in the way of my swing arm microscope. It is lightweight. Must it really be so large an imposing? The feet are hard plastic and allow the base to skid on the work surface. The power cube has a short cord making it hard to place the thing where you most want it. You'll need an extendsion cord. The slider knob feels cheap like what it is: cheap plastic. If you extend the lights into the "wrong" position the unit is unbalanced and tips. The parts that screw together to attach the lamp arms are just shoddily made cast metal and not machined. I could not get the threads started on one side and when I did the connection would not bottom out and the tube just wobbled in the socket. Finally, I took a wrench and really torqued it down and then it worked properly. All told, I'm not impressed with this poorly made gadget. It's kind of junky. However, it does cast a good amount of light. I give an OK for that.
