Solidly made and easy on the wallet
I bought this for scooping wood pellets into my table-top Solo stove. It works great for that. I was surprised by how well made this thing is. It would be perfect for camping. Can't say how susceptible it is or not to rust but, for the price, it wouldn't hurt to try it on a couple of outings and see how it does. I grew up using cups just like this on canoeing trips. This was much better than I expected. Buy with confidence.

You can do everything with this cup!
I had a Sierra Cup for over 25 years of outdoor recreation and backpacking use - since I was in my twenties. Having lost it a few years back, and recently in need of a replacement, I was grateful to find it was still being produced. The price on Amazon was amazingly low, around $7.50. I remember paying something like $5 for it at REI twenty or so years ago. You can do everything with this cup. You can cook in it over a camp stove, eat from it, drink from it, wash utensils, I've even used it to dig out a snow cave. This is the swiss army knife of camping tools. It's worth every penny. Once you start using one, you use it for EVERYTHING. It was such a good deal, I bought TWO.

Awesome for what it is
Being an Avid Outdoorsperson, I've had the urge to build a "Classic Camping gear" kit for a while now. This went into it.First what it ISN'TIf you're looking for the perfect cup to cook in,in the modern camping sense. This isn't the best option. While it has no problem goimg right in the coals and cooking up a serving of whatever. It is more of a BOWL that you can easily drink from, than a cup. Knowing this I opted for the larger size. It's shape also means that any liquid in it has an increased aurface area and COOLS somewhat faster.I don't personally mind this, as It means I can drink my Bush tea quicker. Its design is from the days when you'd dip your water straight from a stream, and guzzle it down. Giardia be DAMNED.With the state of most wild water these days, that's not an advisable use.Where this cup excels for me is as a personal bowl, For food or Tea.As well as being able to be used as a scoop, ladle, supper, digging tool, and as percussion for the Fireside Drum Circle.Plus, It looks cool hanging off my pack,or with the handle slipped under my belt. And we all know camping all about looking cool!Seriously though, It's a great, durable,multi-use piece of kit...It just doesn't quite fit the mold of "MODERN GEAR"I love it for that reason, some may not. They're allowed to be wrong.

Like the ones I grew up with in childhood
Solid and well-made. the "4 oz/6 oz/8 oz." designation on the side may come in handy as an emergency guide. I do like the question here about the "warmth" of these Sierra cups meant for camp food--not really the same as a sleeping bag. I'm guessing "warmth" means "warmth retention," but these are the same size and weight as the original, and so should hold the warmth of the food as expected.

The Godzilla of Sierra cups!
Compared to a normal size Sierra cup this thing is huge! My first thought was: "This isn't a mug, it's a small bowl with a handle." But it'll be perfect for my 11 year old Cub Scout since being so large it'll make it harder to slop out of. He just got his first mess kit and he was disappointed that his didn't have a metal Sierra cup like his Dad's has. I'm sure he will love it when Santa leaves it under the tree at Christmas.Construction is very sturdy and the handle was firmly attached.

BEWARE
I really like this cup, seems sturdy, well made and bigger capacity than others, so why the 3 stars? Got it yesterday, tested it and as said I was very satisfied with it, so much that I came back to buy 3 more and to my amaze within 24 hrs. they’re charging $5 shipping. No thanks I’m not paying that increase all of a sudden for shipping and the delivery is well over a week which wasn’t the case before.

I kind of like that: ) Seems sturdy
Shiny compared to my other Sierra Cup, I kind of like that :)Seems sturdy, has a fixed handle. Plan to get a lot of use out of it while camping. Some might think it to be on the small side, but it's a serving size and you can always re-fill it. This size is easier to "sump" prior to washing in the back country.
