Merriam-webster's Medical Dictionary

I purchased this book mainly for the Webster's proprietary phonetic transcriptions. The definitions of course had these, and their was also a page in the back of the book dedicated to explaining these symbols. However, I found out that there are not any keyboard layouts available to recreate or quote these phonetic transcriptions digitally, so I will be spending considering time programming these into a new layout. The dictionary has all the words I referenced so far, and the book seems very large and thorough. I guess that is all I have to say. Cheap Medical Dictionary in a medium sized paperback.

This dictionary is extremely helpful as I used it alongside my medical terminology textbook. I did encounter that a few medical terms were not found in the book. I did now that this would be the case since I could not find them through the merriam webster's website. However, I will say that I find this dictionary to be quite inclusive of most terms used. And has an expansive provision of medical terms.

Kindle Edition Review: Very useful book, I am sure... It downloaded beautifully to my Kindle but did not load on my computer that runs on Windows 8. I called tech support and they are aware of the problem with downloading dictionaries. I bought this with the with the intentions of being able to search from my computer for homework so I am not too happy about it. I would have just bought the paperback if I had known. Reviews led me to believe that I could download it to my computer and somehow use the words in it to add to my computer's dictionary. Any of you who have taken any A&P classes know what I am talking about... You type a word and see it underlined and triple check the spelling before you continue. It gets old really quick. Anyways, I got a good deal on this product so I didn't return it. It has some good stuff for beginning college students going into the medical field. A dictionary is just something you don't want to flip through the pages and the Kindle's search is a little slow. Buy the paperback, it will probably be a little less aggravating to deal with.

Great buy and great price. I am a nursing student and I use this all the time. It's small and I carry it in a backpack for easy use when I'm studying. I can use my phone however I like less distractions when I study so I stick to books and keep my phone away.

I know this is a small cheaper version of the full sized ones and it only cost around 7.50, but it's missing basic words you would think would be in a Medical Dictionary. I am using it for a class and still have to look online for definitions as these are either not in the book or the definition itself is not explanatory. But for a quick look up for other words, it is handy and small and fits in my purse.

The book arrived here right on time and was in conditions of a brand new paper back book. The only objection it was small but my girlfriend loved the fact that it's not the giant book that makes he backpack heaver than it all ready is from all the other medical books that she already have to carry so it a plus. Merriam-webster's Medical Dictionary . And It seem as if Amazon has even provided a digital copy for me to look though online. Thanks I appreciative and Kudos to those to whom this concerns! Brilliant, nice size and perfect for what I need it for

I'm not medically trained, but I read a lot of medical literature so I need to be able to lookup key definitions and concepts on the go. I read most of my textbooks and a Readability digest on the Kindle, so it makes sense to be able to carry a medical dictionary on the Kindle. Having previously bought Black's Medical Dictionary, I thought the content was excellent but lamented the lack of Kindle dictionary lookup features which would have added considerably to it's value: [...] Webster's Medical Dictionary *CAN* be used as a default Kindle dictionary, which goes to show how well the technology can be used. Unfortunately for me, it is written in US rather than UK English and some terminology requires extra lookups for synonyms and alternative spellings. If only Black's would follow suit...

This dictionary is very useful for any student in the health care field. It saves having to look up numerous definitions on the internet. There are very few words that I needed to look up that weren't there. For the price, it's a good buy.
