I like short-grain rice, and this is the best. I'm sorry it comes in such huge quantities, but I was able to share some of the rice with my son and a friend and still have plenty to last me a long time. It's the only rice I cook at home, and it comes out great every time, although I do adjust the recommended recipe a little by adding more water than recommended. I love it best when baked in the oven with diced tomatoes. Yummy!

I ordered this without checking the Amazon reviews. Once I saw the reviews and pictures I was a little paranoid that it would have a tone of bugs. I opened the bag and went through it outside and didn't find a single bug. I divided it into 4 differentclear containers and stored it.

Overpriced but good rice

We first bought this because we wanted to try making our own rolls at home and understood that the correct rice is essential to that process. Honestly our results weren't impressive, but this rice was not what kept our them from being instagram worthy. When prepared for the sushi making, this rice indeed was fluffy and sticky making it easy to form various rolls and rice balls. We have only used it for that purpose a couple of times, but we've bought several times because it is also great as an everyday dinner side. I like how fluffy and soft it is when its cooked and it tends not to stick to the bottom of our rice maker. We soak the rice for 20 minutes before cooking then drain and rinse. It also absorbs flavor readily; great to soak up sauce on the plate. Also works really well in salads because it stays tender when cold. Whether you specifically want to make sushi or just want some good tasting rice, this product has been a satisfying choice for us for both uses.

This is great rice for making sushi or other Japanese dishes that require "sticky rice" rather than the normal, long grain, or aromatic rice. Japanese rice is short grain and more glutenous than Jasmine rice or Basmati rice. It sticks together when rolled (sushi or nigiri) and is the rice that traditional Japanese foods require. This brand tends to be quite good and is my "go-to" brand for rice. The big bag which is delivered to your door is a bonus. As with most rice, keep in mind the rice to water ratio when cooking it. It makes a big difference in the final cooked product.
