SmoothSkin Bare Plus IPL Hair Removal for Body and Face - Black/Rose Gold

I have been super impressed by this device. I use it for upper lip, underarms, bikini line and legs, and I think the results have been fantastic. The first week I used it, I started to worry about how fast the regrowth was in the bikini area, and wondered if maybe the hairs in this area were just too stubborn. Within a day it was stubbly (not to mention itchy!) and I thought perhaps I'd undone all those years of faithful waxing. But the change in other areas was apparent almost from the word go. After about 3-4 weeks, there was hardly anything to shave anywhere before my next "zap", as I like to call it. I continued usage but have to be honest that I did forget some weeks and didn't actually make it to the end of my first 12 weeks without failing at the schedule, but the results are still there. Regrowth in all areas is minimal, and I'm sure that as long as I get back to being more disciplined about it the trend will continue. I'm really delighted. Only things I will say that I wish I could change: I can't quite get to all the parts of my bikini line that I'd like to. If you're a "Hollywood" waxer you csn only zap to a certain distance and you'll probably need to continue waxing the rest. But I'm still thrilled with how much less I have growing down there - I'm literally talking about the very intimate area which they tell you in the guide not to zap but I couldn't help giving it a go just in case. I do also find there is some discomfort with the level of heat. Other reviewers have said they feel nothing, I would say it does take some getting used to. But at no point have I burned myself. The one thing that did happen is I did exactly the same top lip area in quick succession and it hurt and went quite red. Thought I'd scorched the skin but it actually just faded within minutes. That said, if you're passing over the same area more than once, just give it a little break so it cools a bit and don't hold the device still and repeatedly zap. I bought this 3 years ago and continue to be very pleased with it. It makes a big difference to hair growth- much slower and more fine and at least 50% doesn’t grow back at all after the initial period of weekly blips. The best beauty purchase I’ve ever made.

Okay, not laser-guided, but I love this! My previous model stopped working. Not sure why, maybe it got knocked when decorating the bedroom and moving things about. I decided to go for this model as it states it is much faster, and because it is smaller - is easier to do more of the body... No kidding! It took much longer than 10 mins to do the whole body. After a while, as it got hot it also got slower and slower, but I was aware this can happen as regarding my previous model. I simply disconnected for a few mins, let it cool, and carried on. I am absolutely delighted, as my previous model was large and too difficult/cumbersome to do the whole body. but with this little beauty, I did the lot! The fact I could do all areas of my legs was an absolute treat! Of course, whether it actually reduces hair growth, to be honest, it is too early to tell. But my previous model (by the same Brand) worked a treat, so no reason this will not work. I would advise getting some dark specs (sunglasses) though because the flash is 'extremely' bright sometimes and can hurt the eyes. I will update after 12 weeks to report if this does truly reduce or even stop hair growth, or at least get rid of the dark hairs. There is a more powerful model, but that is the same size/shape as my previous model, and more than twice the price. I can spare an hour to zap my body, but not hours... At this price, it is a luxury item. But you have to weigh up if the cost is worth it over need.

Worked well for the first few goes, but unfortunately then literally went 'pop' and hasn't worked since. Maybe we had a dodgy unit, but it was rather disappointing.

In just few weeks I can see results, I'm very happy to use, is easy to use it 10 min and I'm finishing all body.

SmoothSkin have addressed a lot of issues they've had with their past models to make this smaller, lighter, faster and more effective. This device is the smallest ive owned from SmoothSkin, though it is still somewhat limited by being mains power only. They say it takes 10 minutes for a treatment, though I found this difficult to manage. The contact head - where it comes into contact with my skin, is still clunky so certain smaller or difficult areas such as knees, wrists, shins and upper lip do take that bit long as its unable to get a full pulse thereby increasing the amount of time it takes to proceed through as I find a good fit. Though I am able to obtain a 100 shots per minute in principle, double the amount of their 'Muse' model, technically this would amount to a shorter treatment time cutting the previous model down to half the time due to double the speed, but in reality this is not quite the case. It glides seamlessly through the skin without having to continually lift it off, it detects your skin tone, flashing faster to make your treatment time a lot shorter for those easily detectable areas. Its pleasingly lighter compared to their older models, making it less cumbersome to handle, particularly as I have to remain close to a mains outlet. It suggest 12 treatments, one per week, and then a top up every fortnight or so. The results with IPL from experience are not instant, but keeping on top of it will allow you to see a dramatic reduction with time. it does however require regular use to see a permanent reduction in hair follicles. How does it compare to the Braun Silk Expert Pro 5? The SmoothSkin may do well in the number of flashes per minute, though im not told how many i'll get in the overall lifetime of the bulb which will eventually need maintenance. Im hoping it will last as long as the Braun. But, what this unit lacks is the slightly fiddly nature to which I have to adjust the contact head to obtain a perfect pulse. I am sacrificing time trying to do this, which makes the treatment time longer than the Braun. Would I recommend it? For the price, which is currently a third of the price of Braun's Pro 5, this is an exceptionally fast and light weight unit. If shins, joints and upper lip areas are not a major thing for few, I would go for this unit, it's a good value lower price together with the high speed output. ...Though the lifespan of this device's bulb is less clear. As for me, I still prefer the Braun with it's ability to perform better on difficult areas. 4 stars

Have been using for about a month now. I have been through 4 uses and I did find that if used properly I can actually do both legs (from knees to ankles) in about 10 minutes and both arms (from wrists to elbows) in another 5. Pros: - It’s shockingly silent so can be used discreetly. - Well-built and the metallic glossy rose with black combo is elegant. - It’s very lightweight and compact. grips well and is comfortable to use and hold. - Comes with a UK and another EU plug so perfect for use whilst travelling. - Comes in a nice hard storage box - Very simply to use! the instructions are clear and straightforward. - when first switched on a blue LED light turns on. If you point the device at the skin properly, a white LED light appears round the middle button and then indicates it’s ready to be used. That’s it – simply flash away. That is with stamp mode – so you flash, lift, aim, flash, repeat. - in gliding mode there is no lifting. So, aim the device at the skin and glide whilst flashing (pressing the button). Don’t lift the device in between flashes. - A red LED light will appear round the middle circular button when the device is not aimed at the skin properly. Cons: At this price I expected some form of eye protection or UV glasses to be provided. It came without one. Also, it’s corded so has to be used near a plug. The other thing is that it states it has unlimited flashes and I simply can’t believe this as the science behind these says that the bulbs can’t last forever. So, it’s either a wrong statement or the technology has indeed developed to offer unlimited flashes. I don’t know, but I’ll see how long this lasts. By my fourth usage I can see a slight reduction in hair growth so I will update after 12 weeks. So far it seems to be working and I’m very pleased with how easy it is to operate. It works amazingly for me. To start with, I am Chinese, with relatively fair skin and black hair, the perfect combination to use IPL hair remover. For my legs, I used 3 times and can see the effects very nicely. For my forearms, I have only used 2 times. So I can still see some spots with hair growing as usual, while other spots have already significantly reduced the hair growth. I guess it is just a matter of time to use it a couple of more times. The only down side is that, when using it on forearms and armpits, it feels like burning hot, while it doesn't feel that much pain on the legs, although the pain goes away after you stop using it.

Provato 1 volta a settimana per 5 settimane solo su una gamba. poi ho depilato con rasoio entrambe le gambe. su quella trattata con il dispositivo non è più ricresciuto un pelo, sulla gamba non trattata ovviamente i peli sono ricresciuti normalmente. ho fatto questa prova per valutare se funzionava e rendere o meno il prodotto. son molto soddisfatta. Inoltre il suo utilizzo è molto più veloce in quanto produce flash più velocemente senza bisogno di attendere.

I have been using it for two months now. It works well but also takes time if you want to cover a large area. Especially beace the lamp heats up and then the flash frequency drops down.
