Great reliable storage for servers
I've been running these workhorses for years. I've got 12 of them running in an old Dell R730xd and they hum along day and night, no issues. But I'm also paranoid, so I run them in 4 triple-mirror ZFS pools. It's been at least 6 years and I've had to replace ONE, which is what I bought this one for.BTW, this ad says these drives are refurbished but according to the SMART info, mine was brand spanking new! I don't think they can monkey with that when they refurbish it, can they? I thought it was like a car odometer. Yeah, you could monkey with it, but you'll go to hell or something like that.I dunno. But these things work great if you've got real servers to run them in

Low power-on time
Only received the drive today, so it's possible the drive still dies in the next 6 months, but at least right now, the drive is working and even shows only 77 minutes of power on time. Pleasant surprise from a refurbed drive manufactured in 2016.

Images are nicer on listing then what was received and one harddrive older the the other
The harddrives were the same model, but one was clearly older then the other and different then the picture

Avoid: 10-Year-Old Drives - 50% Failure Rate within 18 Hours
I purchased a set of 4 refurbished Seagate 8TB SAS drives for a TrueNAS build. While they were advertised as refurbished, buyers should be aware that these are 10-year-old drives (Manufactured in 2015).I performed a standard "burn-in" stress test using the badblocks utility. Within the first 18 hours of testing, 2 out of the 4 drives failed catastrophically:Drive 1 failed with "Data channel impending failure." Developed 199 Grown Defects and 88 uncorrected errors almost immediately.Drive 2 started with 0 defects, but developed 12 grown defects within 7 hours, eventually ballooning to over 600 uncorrected errors and an "impending failure" SMART status.If you buy these, do not simply plug them in and trust them. You must run a full destructive surface scan (like badblocks or a Long SMART test). Based on my batch, there is a very high probability that you are receiving "end-of-life" hardware that is being masked as low-hour refurbished. Returning for a refund and going with a more reputable vendor.

Keep ‘Em Available.
You NEED a server that has SAS capabilities.If you don’t know what I’m talking about, don’t buy these.For those of us who DO have that capability, these work great. They are used & show high uptime in the smart data.I’m running these as mirrors in a vdev, so if one does fail, quick rebuild times of a mirror puts less stress on the remaining drive in the VDEV. This setup DOES double the cost per GB however.Keep proper up to date backups & buying refurbished drives like this shouldn’t be a problem, for “hot” data that needs to be online and available.If you are in a corporate setting, buy new & don’t fool around. But for the average user who has the capability to use SAS, I’ve not run into any problems yet.
