I use these all the time and they work great. Easy to install and creates a strong mechanical bond. Installs into plywood easily or mdf. I do use a little glue on the teeth

I used these to attach a railing to a ships ladder I built to access a loft space. Worked very well and very secure.

I used these, on a normal pine table that I made, and they worked well to hold strong. I tighten the bolts heavily without any failures.

I use these in trailer floors to mount chocks and they grip well. The are very sensitive to the pilot hole size. If you put to much force on them they may crack. If hole is to big you need to epoxy

I used these for two projects so far. I wanted to add castors to a workbench, to raise it and make it mobile at the same time. I took a couple of pieces of 2x4 cut to the width of the bench and inserted 16 of these, 4 per caster. I was then able to screw the 2x4s to the bench and then bolt the casters to the bottom of the bench. Very secure. The second application was securing a mailbox. I wanted blind fasteners but I didn't want to have to rely on wood screws. I cut a piece of 1/2" plywood to fill the gap under the mailbox I chose and drilled it to match the mounting points and added inserts. I screwed the plywood onto my mailbox post and could then bolt on the mailbox. it is so much easier to use the bolts than to try to start screws while reaching to the back of the mailbox. And the mailbox is much more secure. The flanged bolts I used won't pull through.

An exceptional value great inserts. This was a project of replacing wear out old threaded inserts. I’m attaching photos to show the new inserts side by side with the old replaced ones. There are various tools to complete this job. You can use an M8 Allen Key That fits perfectly at the top of the insert but use extreme cautious screwing into hard wood especially if it’s for installing inserts for the first time. If using the correct size drill for the pilot holes you’ll have no problem installing the inserts with just an Allen Key. The best way to assure the inserts will not break during the installations is to use a long screw with two locking nuts on top of the insert and using a wrench to fasten them into the hard wood – see attached photos. Overall, it is a great value and an excellent choice for completing any DIY projects. It was easy to find the best fit thanks to the detailed specs provided by the vendors, easier then going to the big box stores. For an extra assurance I picked the Flanged ones for added strength at the top Hex area. Please note that these inserts are mainly for soft wood projects, but can be used on hard wood with a proper installation.

They’re extremely difficult to put in straight.I wish there were instructions for what size drill to use. Luckily another reviewer mentioned 3/8” worked. I never would have figured that out just by eyeballing them. And the only reason 3/8” worked for me is because I rocked the drill bit side to side a little at the end. Which probably contributed to them going in crooked, but at least they went in.I imagine if I had a drill press and a more adequate size drill bit that it would have worked better.If you look, the top of these are wider than the bottom so the rocking was necessary. 1/2” would have been too big but neither of my drill sets have anything between 3/8 and 1/2.It’ as painful as it is that many went in terribly crooked—I’m a perfectionistic as they come— for my application it doesn’t matter, only makes me cringe every time I look at them. I can live with that I guess. It’s user error, just warning you that they might not be as simple to install as you would think.I used them to make wood woof’em stick toppers to screw onto my pie iron handles so that I don’t have to haul around a third type of stick in our camping gear (pie iron, roasting stick, and now these).All in all I’m just pleased that they were available and do the job.
