Henschel Outback Crushable, Canvas with Leather Band

Three stars because the size will arrive larger than you expect. This "large" is way too loose on a 23" noggin. Fortunately it's not hard to add some material behind the inner fabric lining to customize the fit. I'm not going to return mine since I am able to do this.The olive is a very attractive color. The hat somewhat retains it's shape......somewhat. It's not all that rigid, because it's not oil cloth.This hat is not advertised (on this page) as oil cloth, so what I am about to say does not affect my 3-star rating, I just don't want anyone to make the same mistake I did. I thought this was the same oil cloth had that is advertised by the same name and color schemes on other Amazon and website pages. The one I received is definitely not oil cloth. Water absorbs directly into it. This is a bit disappointing, but after reviewing this page, it isn't listed here as an oil cloth hat. So I didn't drop the rating, but giving a written caution.

Was looking for a reasonably wide-brimmed hat for when I go outdoors to take photos. Ordered this one along with a Dorfman Pacific Outback hat. The box got crushed en route, and both hats got a bit messed up. The Dorfman Pacific hat popped right back into shape and looked good, fit good. The Henschel Outback hat not so much. It never got into shape and looked silly on me. I gave up after a while and opted to return it. I read someone else's review about this brand and that they had the same problem. I'll stay away from Henschel in the future.

Hat arrived in perfect form. It went straight from box to wearing and looks great hanging on my hat rack... but I have no intention of "crushing" to pack it in a bag or suitcase or going on a safari with it where I would for some reason need to collapse it for packing so I don't know how it would rebound. My advice just don't, if you must have a "crushable" hat then get any boonies hat sold in any outdoors or fishing section. This is too nice of a hat for that purpose. I got it as a sun hat and for visiting pioneer days reenactments. It wears perfectly well and was true to size. For those of you saying it runs large, you do know you can insert something as simple as a piece of cloth behind the band to adjust, right? Real person here and I recommend this hat.

This hat was described as crushable. Silly me thought that meant that it would return to its original shape when "uncrushed." I could not have been more wrong. The hat arrived flattened and semi-flattened is the best that I can make it look. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!

The hat would be fine and fits well but the packaging was awful. It came smashed, bent and shoved into a small mailing envelope. It has a hidden wire in the brim that is bent beyond straightening and the fabric and leather band is quite wrinkled with no way the smooth out. It looks like one of my old work hats, not a new one as I expected. Don't buy it if you want a new looking hat.

Male, 43, hat size 23.5" or X-Large, perfect fit. This is the most comfortable hat I have purchased so far and I own over a dozen with price ranges into the $100's. I read the reviews about the shipping and I would say it's fair to say the packaging can be much better but mine popped right up and looks just fine. It is a very light hat with a type of canvas feel that I like a lot. The olive color is not over the top and it will match with pretty much everything. I'm in sales and get many compliments. I have a big head so it's hard to find hats that are deep enough so I don't look like an idiot, this hat fits like a glove and keeps the shape very well. It's brim is just the right size and flexes easy to shape, the front and back have a nice slope and it's not so big that it looks like a cowboy hat, almost like an indy hat. For $7 bucks you really can't find better, I'll keep my felt fedora's but this is now my everyday work hat for business sales.

People dont lie, it comes crushed in a small box. Sadly it does not hold shape well and if you leave it crushed it will get wrinkles that are difficult to get out. It is also very difficult to keep shaped as it is in the picture, it does not naturally look like the picture. I give it 4 stars though because of the cost, lets be real, its cheap. So it looks great if you can get it to hold form and not be wrinkled. I actually wore it to my wedding and it looked great in pics. I still wear it on super sunny days when i need some shade.

This hat was advertised as having a leather band. The band is not leather. It is a plastic-vinyl-like material. I tried to remove it so I could add my own leather band and I discovered that the band was the only thing holding the top to the rim. There was no seam. This is not a hat. I don't know what is is, but it is not a hat. It should not be sold as a hat. Don't buy it unless you like poorly made hat shaped things. I thought Henschel made hats. Wish I could get my $ back but I discovered this too late. Buy a real hat from someone else.

I had purchased this model hat before when I was in Las Vegas and this replacement is the very same four years later.I wouldn't want to crush it either, as it does seem to remember all creases and folds, funny I also have the Olive version which is five years old and it does seem to bounce back when flattened, go figure. This hat arrived boxed and in a plastic bag which did allow for a slight crease at the front, so I dunked the hat in a sink full of clear water and hung to dry and voila, creases gone! The hat that this one replaces is still quite wearable, just faded, gives it character LOL.All in all will definitely order another as Amazon was the only place to have this model!I wear this hat all year round.

Se arruga un poco y la medida queda ligeramente grande. Sin embargo, muy buen acabado. Ligero y no se mancha fácilmente. Para actividades al aire libre o simplemente como complemento para un look casual. Muy recomendable.

muchas gracias por la pregunta, me encanto mi sombrero bueno mis sombreros pues les compre en verde olivo y el café claro (beige). Como se sugiere les aplique repelente de agua y manchas y quedaron perfectos. por el empaque un poco arrugados llegaron pero los les di fu forma.Espero me duren mucho tiempo.Gracias

Fit perfectly in large; i’m Med-large US ball Cap size. Bigger heads will need XL for sure. Hat is well made and classically shaped, for the price a no-brainer. Bought it for fishing but I might want another one to keep for daily use...

Nice hat. Looks great. I got the wrong size, unfortunately, but they sorted it out super fast. I recommend this vendor.
