3.3V 5V FT232RL USB to TTL Serial Converter Adapter Module for Arduino 4 pcs

At this low price, I do suspect that the chips used are counterfeit, but I have to say they work really really well. I use it to program ESP8266s, and I'm quite satisfied with the experience.

These are very well-made and are immediately recognized as FTDI on Windows 10. All four come on a single PCB. You must snap them apart yourself, to separate them into four individual boards. They use the "old" USB mini (not micro) cables - so you'll need to find one to use them. Great value! Using the loop-back test, all four are functioning perfectly.

Great tool but not well labeled and no data sheet. Works well but I had to trace the headers.

I ordered these as a last minute purchase and didn't look very closely at the picture. Be aware that they have the much older mini usb connector instead of micro usb, I was in luck that I happen to keep one around for any such occasion. Everything else seams to work. On Ubuntu it shows up as /dev/ttyUSB0 which is exactly what I needed for Arduino IDE.

Using this on an Arduino Mega Core. Did not work at first. Could not read the TINY TINY lettering on the board. Once I flipped it order, it worked nicely. That is all I ask.

Very inexpensive serial board. Once I downloaded the drivers for windows from the FTDI website, the serial port showed up as a VCP and I was able to connect to my application. Please download the setup executable from the FTDI site and run it. This is a bit tricky and involved but you can get there fairly easily. I plugged the RX and TX pins directly to my application's respective TX and RX pin along with a GND connection. Select the right voltage level for you applications too. I used 3.3V.

Well, they function. If you only plan to use them by themselves, these will be fine. It's a bit annoying that the ft232rl chip is a fake. I'd love to know how they get away with this. I don't know if it's any better, but other Chinese vendors let you know the part is not genuine. The FTDI part has an eeprom in it which is programmable, but these don't or at least they are not programmable with the software provided by FTDI.If your intension is to construct some sort of a system involving more than one of these, you need to be careful. Windows needs a unique serial number if you plan to assign a specific port number to a specific device. These all have the same serial number, so since the VID and the PID are the same, as they should be, the lack of a unique serial number means windows can't tell one from another. As far as I can tell, this can't be corrected by bringing them online in a specific order.However, if your predisposed, you might buy these and replace the chip with a legitimate version. You could still save a few bucks over the purchase of a unit with a genuine FTDI part.

Pin out matches the mini pro perfectly.I use a female header instead of the male header that comes with the mini pro.This bunch came panelized with the jumper set for 5 volts. (beware 3.3v mini pro users)
