My advice is to install the nut while building model. Use epoxy to secure it. Install the screw when epoxy sets. My model was already built and when I drilled hole, I ended up splitting the two fuselages.

Receiving 3 stars for two things. 1.) It was marred up during transit - the wood finish needed to be sanded and polished afterwards due to sizeable scratches. I'm sure this is more of a "one-off" type of thing - not the end of the world. 2.) I don't thing they did a good job advertising what this does and doesn't fit. I have a 1:200 Qantas A380, this model is not compatible with this stand - I had no idea. Now that I've got the stand I realize that it is designed for the larger 1:100 models which have a prefixed attachment to screw into. I still made it work by drilling and tapping a new hole into the belly of the model plane however. The included image was the only one I had on hand at the time of this post.

This was perfect for my purposes! I had to drill out a couple holes in the bottom of the model for the peg and the grommet, but it was worth it for the overall look of the plane and the stand. Great product. Will buy this again for future projects.

The Skymark stand is a very good looking, functional model aircraft stand. It is a nice looking piece that I am proud to display in any portion of the house. The construction is solid and of significant quality.

For a cheaply stained small piece of wood and a very bendable metal upright with 2 screws this is way overpriced. I drilled out the small mounting hole and the top metal bend almost twisted off and broke. Extremely bendable and breakable. I made it work. 3 stars is generous.

I highly recommend this as a replacement model airplane stand. The wood finish is superb and the aluminum arm has a first-rate machined finish look. The arm is flexible enough to bend to change the model's angle of attack. SkyMarks also includes the threaded fastener insert for the fuselage. This stand now supports my vintage 1:100 scale Boeing VC-137A SAM26000 (Air Force One) model, which weighs 2.1 lbs.
