The pop music of the 1960s was a much more polished version of the beginnings in the 50s yet the garage band sound of acts like the McCoy s and Hang on Sloopy and wailing guitars of the Troggs Wild Thing reminded us all that Rock & Roll was not dead yet! Girl groups like The Crystals brought us He s a Rebel and The Grass Roots pounded out hit after hit like Let s Live for Today along with freckled faced Gary Lewis [son of Jerry] and his Playboys landed #1 hits like This Diamond Ring amidst the onslaught of British Invasion acts like Herman s Hermits. The 45 RPM record was the main carrier of hits from The Miracles, Vogues, Wayne Fontana and The Everly Brothers and Mitch Ryder, while TV shows like American Bandstand and Shindig brought us weekly offerings of our favorite stars. As the 60s progressed and the war in Vietnam worsened, the psychedelic sounds of bands like Vanilla Fudge and Blue Cher blasted out of our radios and the bubble gun sound of the Archie s brought us Sugar, Sugar . Thirty six classic 1960s hits , newly recorded or live in concert at a special budget price on three discs.

Don't waste your money on this CD
Don't waste your money on this CD. The TINY PRINT on the back of the CD reads, "All selections are new stereo recordings, except selections marked (*) are the original recordings." Sugar Sugar by the Archies is the only original artist - the rest are bad reproductions... very disappointed!

Don't bother
I can't believe these are the original singers. They sound like a very poor cover band. I think the name of the band is "Original Artist"

... very sorry for this review because I have some good points and some not so great points to mention
I am very sorry for this review because I have some good points and some not so great points to mention. Good points:This CD did arrive to my house ahead of schedule! CD & CD case "condition" was very good! But, it did not have ANY ORIGINAL RECORDINGS AT ALL! All of the songs on this CD were different versions and COPIES OF THE ORIGINAL SONGS. I am now 60 years old now. I have played & heard the original recordings on the radio a million times ever since I was just a little boy! SO YOU CAN BET THAT I KNOW EXACTLY HOW THESE SONGS ARE SUPPOSED TO SOUND!!!!

There are much better collections of 60's music available
Poorly recorded versions of the songs. Many, if not all, are different versions than those we listened to on the radio. Set thrown in the trash as it is unlistenable. There are much better collections of 60's music available.

Big Disappointment!
This set was a big disappointment. I bought it for the fantastic selection of oldies. But, the discs are poor quality, the sound is very 'tinny' - they sound like they were recorded in a garage by someone with a broken-down home system, rather than a professional studio. I would not recommend this set.

Look elsewhere!!!
This is a CD is unused cuts that are NOT what you remember. Some are very poor quality as well. A TOTAL waste!!!!!Actually 0 Stars is more reflective of the quality.

Best of the 60's Bad Review
Most of the music is not the original recording even though they are under the original artist name. I have removed it from my mp-3 playlist. I love 50's and 60's music this is a bad CD.Bruce Collins

Read the Fine Print
This is the original artists but the stereo added changes the vocals seriously. It does not sound like the original at all - I threw it away literally!!!
