What is the diameter of the unit?

The unit is 3.5" in diameter. I do have a problem with the retracting. It will retract all but 15" of line. I will be taking the unit apart and applying a dry lubricant to see if that fixes the problem. I can live with the problem, if ai have to, but it is annoying.

How do you make the line contract when you’re done using it?

The line comes out of a finger adjustable “screw” - twist left and it auto retracts. Kind of like a tape measure,

Do i need a hammer or drill for screwing?

Not for screwing, but for installing the base where the hanger is installed.
