Archaeology of the Land of the Bible, Volume I: 10,000-586 B.C.E. (The Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library)

Helped me to get As in my Jewish Anthropology course. It's got loads of information, and many times during my semester I was very overwhelmed by the load of information in this book. I'm not really an Anthropology major so I wasn't used to some of the terms, but it's got everything you need for a course that needs this book in hand.

This book by well-respected Israeli archeologist, Amihai Mazar, is a standard in archaeology of the Levant (Bible Lands). It is broad and filled (jam-packed) with valuable information. Without a hard-sell, and without any such religious commitments apparent, Mazar correlates some of his material to curated artifacts, such as the Hebrew Bible, as well. It's not the newest, but it is the most complete and standard guide to the subject.

A highly recommended book so i bought this and it has not disappointed! Came on time with good packaging 🙂

The book was in perfect condition. It met my university's expectations for a very good, inexpensive price. I am happy with it.

This was a book I needed for my Old Testament Archaeology class. Mazar is very good at explaining things, although sometimes it can be hard to distinguish between certain perspectives on the timeline of the Old Testament world. It was amazing to see how history and archaeology are so linked together, supporting each other and proving that certain events really did happen!

This book and its companion volume are written entirely from the working archaeologist's view. I would not recommend it to the casual reader because it speaks of site names, detailed locations, and has lots of references to pottery styles. I read the two volumes, but I was bored to death and glad when I finished them. My interest is historical timelines and dates. These books do not have either.

The book did not work for my requirement for school as the ISBN I needed was different.The seller quickly received the vook back.
