Lol?
It's my first ever review. But I had to say something. Because I'm fed up! Who t.f. writes these reviews!? They're so misguided.. do people get paid for writing them, not even reading the books.. ?The book was quite borring, also written very well, as well as the other one 'Sorry not sorry'. But it was definitely Not laugh out loud! Really disappointing. Also can't trust the 5/4 star reviews. Amazon definitely is scheming.. 🤔☹

Tired of childish women
I’d have given this one star but it is well written. I’m just so tired of reading books that feature 27 year olds behaving like 16 year olds. It seems to be a sad trend and I’m just bored with it.

A rom com with surprising depth--you will fall in love with Tansy!
This is the second book I’ve read by Sophie Ranald and she has cemented herself as one of my favorite romance and chick lit authors that I’ve read! I literally just went on Amazon and bought every book I could purchase. Her characters pull me right in and I can’t put them down until I know how it will all turn out!About the BookTansy got dumped. Recently. It has been just under two weeks since Tansy opened up to her boyfriend Renzo and shared a shameful part of her past with him. And just under two weeks since his fury led him to dump her on the spot, just before the holidays. Now, Tansy is holding together ok, though she misses Renzo. So sure, maybe she has texted him a few dozen times with no response. That doesn’t mean it is over! And besides, all of the turmoil is making her diet much easier to stick to.But things are rough in Tansy’s life. Her roommate and friend Charlotte is happily off traveling the globe with her new love Xander, and her mother could use a bit of money to make ends meet, which Tansy is happy to send her, if only she can find a way to scrape some money together herself. But there is her new coworker Felicity to get to know—a woman who is beautiful and has that ‘it’ factor. And Josh, the son of her former boss, moves in temporarily to Charlotte’s vacant room. Between her other roommate Adam, Josh, and Felicity, Tansy may have everything she needs to win Renzo back. Stage a few casual run-ins, leak news of a (fake) boyfriend, and Renzo will surely realize he loved Tansy all along. But what if Tansy begins to realize that maybe Renzo isn’t what she wants after all?ReflectionThough there is a lightness to Sophie Ranald’s books, there is also a depth to them that has me leaving each feeling like I saw a character grow right in front of me, and maybe I grew a little bit too. And she does all of this without hitting you over the head with any blatant moral coaching. Her books are about women learning to respect themselves and know they’ll be ok, single or in a relationship. What more could we ask for?Tansy was a character in the last Sophie Ranald book I read, Sorry Not Sorry. That book was Charlotte’s story, but here we truly get Tansy’s story. Tansy may seem outwardly shallow—she’s tall, beautiful, blonde, and works in fashion. But when we see Tansy’s story, she is not the girl she appears to be.Tansy is authentic, filled with love, and wants to help others even to her own detriment. From her mother, to her former boss Debbie, to a young unknown designer Chelsea, we see Tansy lead with love for others time and again in this book. I absolutely adored her by a few chapters in!I won’t spoil any of it, but Tansy’s back story makes her so relatable, and also makes you forgive her for loving someone like Renzo. It all makes complete sense. And he does treat her well for the most part. It’s not a terrible relationship at all. But what we get to learn along with Tansy, is that she is perfect in all of her flaws. Her heart is so pure. I am so excited for readers to get to learn more about Tansy in this book, because she is a character that will stay with me!And the whole ending left me SO satisfied. While I want to read more about Tansy, I also felt like her story was left open in the best way. She is truly a great character and I know readers will love it!Thank you to Bookouture for my copy. Opinions are my own.

Disappointing!
How anyone could describe this book as “an absolutely hilarious and feel good romantic comedy”, I really don’t know. I can honestly say that I didn’t even crack a smile let alone let loose huge belly laughs which one would expect from an “absolutely hilarious” book. I wonder if the person who wrote that description actually read the book. I found it all a bit depressing and it was certainly not a “comedy”. It was in fact rather disappointing as I was looking forward to a good laugh and instead had to wade through the agony of young Tansy interspersed with the agony and heartbreak of older Tansy. Although the book was quite well written with only a few typos etc., and true love won out in the end, nothing about it would induce me to buy book 2.

Better than the synopsis makes it sound
The book is well written and holds attention tion. Tansy had a boyfriend she adored but when he told her he loved her,she told him a dark secret & he dropped her in a cruel & vicious way.She works hard to get him back. But she also works hard at her job as a fashion buyer, even mentoring a promising young designerThere is some pretty graphic sex and a lot of f-bombs. I skipped the sex and ignored the swearing. But I might have given it one more star if not for those two things.

Enjoyable, glad I read it but…
Quote: 'Oh my gosh, this book is laugh-out-loud hilarious, I was cracking up the entire time! The jokes are great! The banter is awesome! I’m in love!' Crocklife,"I chose to pay $.99, instead of selecting a free Kindle Unlimited because of this statement, which turns out to be a "crock' for sure. I did not find this book even slightly funny, never mind hilarious. On the other hand, I did enjoy it. I identified with Tansy as an awkward 27 year old with issues, because I was one too, many years ago. And I enjoyed seeing her evolve. I was reminded how important it is to be yourself and not twist yourself into a prezel to be accepted by others. I wish I had learned that at 27. I had some problems understanding the timeline of the chapters, and feel that the chapter titles could have been more helpful in that regard. But that apart I enjoyed the story and would recommend it as a light entertaining read.

So satisfying
I really like the characterizations which are (in a fantastical way) gorgeous, talented (young) women who have immense insecurities and real problems--and they have various guy opportunities and near-disasters that they work their ways through. I really enjoyed the combo of following two different protagonists so the reader can see how they see themselves vs how they are seen. But of COURSE it all ends happily so you can relax.

Really Great Story
I think what I like most about this book is the realness of the characters and the situations. Everyone has some hangup about themselves, no matter how perfect they may look. Tansy has spent six or so months working on, and dreaming about, getting her ex back. She is such a likeable character. I found myself wanting her to be happy. Some parts of the story are quite funny. I laughed because they were real. Great story. A delightful page-turner.

Just wonderful
I started this book thinking it would be a no brainer chick lit . How wrong I was. For starters, it's beautifully written - I find a lot of books on kindle these days are pretty abysmal in terms of spelling, grammar and construction - and I loved the characters.I found some aspects actually quite upsetting - I don't want to introduce spoilers but a lot of what goes on rang very true. Again, it was very well handled. Overall, the book managed to balance a fun and lovely story with some serious themes without making it 'worthy' .Absolutely terrificly done. Have already lined up the next few books from the author. It might be just me but I see the heroine looking like Betsy!

Ok, but not as good as I was hoping for.
I had high hopes for this, having read some of the reviews. I failed to find the hilarity that a lot of reviewers were referring to- yes, ok, it has its amusing bits, but laugh out loud funny? Not as far as I was concerned. Don’t get me wrong, I like a bit of light reading sometimes, but this was so predictable I had to make an effort to finish it. The author seems to be trying to channel her inner Sophie Kinsella, but failed to find the wit and, dare I say it, the skill to make me care about the characters that Ms Kinsella manages to achieve. It was ok, just not for me.

Mediocre mess, huge disappointment
At 40% of the book the heroine is still only thinking about the breakup with her ex which was the opening of the plot. It's not evolving anywhere, characters are one-dimensional,and hard to relate to, the language is and style is quite immature & unoriginal, the 'trying too hard to be funny' kind that is advertised as laugh-out-loud but has not induced one single chuckle. It shifts from superficial teen magazine material to heavy drama topics and back without properly developping either. The girl's constant whining about the ex seems to be about the lavish lifestyle he had given her and all the money he had spent on her - totally shallow. It would be so refreshing to read a chick lit that does not mention current affairs such as Brexit and are there really no other career options for heroines than a fashion magazine/designer label or a cupcake shop? Not sure I will be able to see this one through. I expected a lot more based on the blurb.

Loved this book
I've enjoyed all Sophie Ranald's books, so perhaps no surprise that I liked 'It's not you it's Him" - Having read Ranald's last book, I was a bit unsure of what I'd think of Tansy as a main character - she's drop dead gorgeous after all! But my worries weren't justified - in this book she emerges as a likeable, flawed and well-meaning person - and her campaign to win her ex back one of those bad ideas that seem really good at the time we all have. Overall, I really enjoyed the story, and as usual with Sophie Ranald books, there are excellent secondary plots and a few serious issues raised sensitively alongside the romance!

Another addictive read from my new favourite author!
As I've mentioned in my other review, I read this before it's predecessor, but I in no way felt like I was missing part of the plot. Tansy's story brought me to tears on several occasions. Loved the flashback, especially the school ones, as they not only added an essential dimension to her story, but in many ways felt incredibly relatable. I was so pleased with the ending as well. Pretty please may we have Adam's story next? I feel like there's so much more to tell... 🤞🏻
