My son loves it
Bought this so my son could train during the Summer. He is very pleased with the quality of the shot. I am hoping to see some great improvement when the season starts and starts throwing his 12# again.

Nice feel but FAILED INSPECTION...
The shot has a nice feel but there's a big problem. I just attended a championship meet where all implements were weighed and inspected. To my surprise my shot did not pass inspection due to the weight being 15.98lbs ...another competitor, who bought the same exact shot here on Amazon, also FAILED INSPECTION (his weighed in at 15.99). These are great practice shots but should not be relied upon for competition use due to inconsistent production and possible illegal weight.

Sturdy!
I had to pick the beast up at the post office, where it was pointed out that the package it was in had broken open beneath the great weight focused into a relatively small object. Should have maybe used more tape.But, it's a big iron ball. I'm using it for shaping steel , and it's holding up well, so used as an actual shot put, I bet it would be brilliant.
