i saw the old reviews and expected the sole to come off the boots and i would need to repair itbut i was pleasantly surprised by the quality of them!i walked around for an hour and gently tugged the soles to test if they would fall off and they do not!they are good quality and the stitching is secure as far as I've seenthe faux leather doesn't feel cheep at all and they have a padded lining on the insidethe zipper is fine so fari am gentle with it though as the ankle is a bit tight on me and it can be tricky to get it past that pointi'd just advise taking it slow so as to not catch it on the inner flap between you and the zipper and get it stuckthey are knee high at least for me so if you're looking for mid calf boots you may need to find something else or modify them somehowand they are flat on the inside so if you plan to walk in them at conventions you'll probably want to get inserts as they will make it much more comfortablei am an 11 1/2 shoe size so i went with the 12-13 size as i'd rather they be a bit bigger then too smallthey fit as i expected them too (a little big)but with a little padding on the inside i'm sure they'll be fine ;)i would definitely recommend these for any costume / cosplay you need knee high black or brown boots fori got these for my rebel fleet trooper costume but they may need modifying as a RFT has a mid calf bootbut they are perfect for my Dib cosplay! (from invader zim)and they were so good i got a pair of the brown color as well to go with my jedi tunic :)very pleased with them indeed :)

Like most of us reading the reviews, I spent a bit of time trying to figure out the sizes. I wear a US 10 or 9 1/2 wide. One reviewer talked about how they were my same size and they went with a Small but felt that it was too tight on their foot but good in the calf. I figured that I'd go with the Medium because it's Amazon and I can always return it if needs be. Not ideal but it's what some folks recommended for my costume piece because I didn't have the time or money to yet buy the costume made boots from some of the top tier vendors out there.Anyway, the Medium fits alright. Still great in the calf but about an inch maybe too long in the toe. Figured I'd keep them until I can splurge on the handmade boots from my preferred but a bit outta my current budget vendor.I'm told these will not only work for my 501st Legion, Death Watch Mandalorian (from the flashback scenes in the Disney + show) but that these boots are also good for Darth Vader, TIE Fighter pilots, and some other cosplays like Star Trek. I've got no interest in a Vader costume but maybe a TIE pilot could be cool. Anyway, hope this helps!Oh, and take it easy on the zipper. It's a good zipper but feels like I could get it stuck if I'm not paying attention.

After reading many of the reviews on here, I placed my order per the suggestions of others, and ordered a small (I usually wear a 9 1/2 shoe) and these fit perfectly. I also paid close attention to the suggestions of getting gel insoles, as these aren't being worn as just a costume for a weekend Comic Con gathering, but rather a more continuous rehearsal process and production of "Fiddler on the Roof", and the extra comfort is paramount in going through the rehearsal process. I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality of the boot, and the zipper seems to be of very good quality too. Bear in mind that These boots do get hot, and don't breathe well, so a good airing out after each use is essential. I ordered the brown, and... I do wish the color was more brown or tan and less like a caramel mocha. Had I known, I might have gone with the black. It's the only reason I gave them a 4 star rating. Overall, a very good boot...at an excellent price.

Bought these for my husband and they fit big -- in the calf and foot. Since these don't come in exact sizes, just a range, it makes them awkward if you're on the smaller end of the size range. Perhaps they'd fit better if you're the larger of the two sizes. They don't just feel too big, they LOOK too big on the foot as well.That said, the quality is decent and they look good when he doesn't have them on. And they're a good price. Would be a great boot if the size issue could be adjusted.

What can I say? For a $40.00 pair of boots they did what I intended them to do, complete my costume. They totally fit the bill to make my Jedi costume so much more authentic. Due to many other reviews I saw, I used a pair of memory foam inserts out of one of my pairs of high end tennis shoes. Had I not done this my feet would have been killing me. I wear a size 13 and these were right at 13 no more, no less. These boots fit my calves perfectly and around my ankles as well. If you have small calves or larger calves you may have fit issues. Apparently if I had to walk say 2 miles straight in these I would be in distress. Also I think that based on older reviews, the manufacturer has made necessary steps to make the boot more durable. They did not come apart and thanks to my inserts I was pretty comfortable for the 5 hours I had the boots on. I was definitely ready to come out of them when I got home. So in conclusion, great for costume wear, great price but don't try running any marathons in them.
