Regal Flame 24 Inch Convert to Ethanol Fireplace Log Set with Burner Insert from Gel or Gas Logs (Birch)

My house is older and had a natural fireplace, but it needed a new liner. Best quote I got was $3500. Not to mention burning wood isn't great for the environment. This solved all my problems! Clean burning, real flames, and the birch wood matched my home decor really well. Sometimes when it's just me hanging out at home, I put candles underneath the logs and light those instead of having a "real fire". It still makes a flickering glow under the logs and makes the house smell great! My only complaint about the logs is that they get this "soot" and turn yellow every few fires. It washes off fairly easily (and let's be honest, no one is looking that closely at your fire logs anyway) but its still ugly.I recommend looking up the prices for the fuel. In the 24inch model, 1 quart of fuel lasts me about 2:30-2:45. If you're wanting to have it run all evening say during a party, you'll need to use a few bottles. The best price I've found is $70 for 12 quarts, about $5.83 a bottle.

The media could not be loaded.  We purchased a 325 year old home with 4 fireplaces. The house needs a lot of work so relining the chimney is not a priority right now. This is a safe and inexpensive way to enjoy a “real” fire. Many of our guests thought we had a gas insert. If we’re having company we add 2 bottles of fuel. If my husband and I are just hanging out after dinner we add one. I love this product!

The birch style logs we chose with the 18" insert were meh....didn't look very real, but once you use them and they get some black char on them, guess they'd be okay. However, we ordered ones separately that are more realistic, and they work fine with the fireplace unit. We put it inside an existing fireplace that we don't use, and love it! Fuel is expensive, but we bought it for ambience and it definitely does the job! Highly recommend, but be sure to use their Regal Flame bio fuel too. We see many complaining about lighting it being a little scary, but I think that's because people might be lighting the lighter THEN moving it to the unit to light. That would catch the fumes before getting to the unit, which is why I think it's scaring people. Put the lighter close to the fuel BEFORE lighting it, and it will light right up without a 'POOF' which can be scary. Read what others are saying about that; if you do it this way, you won't have that issue. LOVE IT!!!!
