High-quality pot, thoughtfully designed burner
I had the previous version of this burner, and when it started to give up the ghost, I bought this. I think it is an improvement in the following two ways: There are now three cooking modes: time, temperature, and power (the mode added). I never saw the point of the time mode; you cook things at specific temperatures, which then determines how long you cook them. They also got rid of the groove around the edge. Now, it has a smooth glass surface edge to edge, and you can clean it off with ease. I cringe when I see so many burners full of areas for crud to collect. Every part of this is easy to clean. The pot actually seems quite nice, with a very thick bottom. It is not nonstick, however, and that really disappoints me, even if it is a stockpot, intended for soup and such. That is because nearly all soup recipes start with something being sautéed, such as bacon or onions, or even a package of ground beef. I checked out a *lot* of burners, and here is a summary of what I found: I bought an induction burner to try out prior to a kitchen remodel that never happened. I am disabled, and can no longer stand at my cooktop, which is solid-surface ceramic, which I despise. The first thing I learned about induction cooking is its responsiveness, much closer to gas than ceramic, regardless of appearance, when speaking about how rapidly food in the pan heats up or cools down. If you, like me, used gas for your whole life and were forced to then live with a ceramic cooktop, you know the frustration of trying to deal with something so slow to heat up or cool down. With the portable induction burner, I can sit at the table in a comfortable upholstered chair with the burner on a little rolling cart in front of me, where I can look down and see the food clearly, something I had not been able to do for years. I had been using a stir-fry pan for nearly everything for about 20 years, so it worked well to have a burner/nonstick stir-fry pan at the ready. After almost exactly a year, I noticed that food was no longer cooking well, was taking longer and longer to get to cooking temperature, and was shutting off at random. I thought that a year was a short time for it to last, so I set out to find something better than Duxtop. I failed. Not because Duxtop is perfect, but because so many others were so bad. The #1 complaint? Units seemed to stop working properly after about a year. All of them. There are some with a 4.8 or 4.9 rating, but look more closely: Nearly all of them have fake ratings out the wazoo. One of them had only two ratings from verified purchasers. So I did some calculations. The full-size built-ins seem to be better quality, but they are substantially more expensive, and given that we are elderly, dividing that cost over our expected remaining years in this house yields a much higher annual cost than just biting the bullet and buying a new unit each year. So I wound up buying a newer version of the first Duxtop I bought last year. So far, it performs beautifully.

Love this induction cooktop.
I have purchased 3 of these induction cooktops. One for me and one for each of my daughters they love them as much as I do. I have had mine for several years and it looks like brand new. I use it at least 2 times a week and in the summer it is great why because it does not heat up the house. It is quiet, easy to store or looks nice on the counter. Mine is still working great after 4 years.

Amazing product! Made the right choice
At my house I do not have a functioning stove top. I had been on the look out for a portable cooktop of some kind to use in place of a normal stove top. I had purchased several other cook tops, all electric or coil heating units. They never really worked well for me. They didnt get very hot, they didnt hold heat well, they couldnt actually boil water, essentially they were garbage. So I started looking around for a better option and that is when I found this AMAZING product. It heats so quickly, it is consistent, reliable, durable, and by far the best cook top I have ever used. Even compared to the stove top that is traditionally used in most places. I recommend this product to anyone looking for a great induction cook top, whether it is in place of a non functional stove top like mine or if you are just looking for an extra cook top to have around the holidays for example so you can cook many things at one time. There was also an amazing pan included with my purchase. Its wonderful for boiling water, cooking large meals or really anything you need. The only negative thing I could possibly think of is there is a high pitched sort of ringing noise it makes at the higher settings. I am young and have very good hearing so I do believe it bothers me more than most. But I am able to tune it out and its really only noticable to me while at the very highest setting available. I would purchase this again if or when I need a second cook top. Love love love this product!!

Pretty awesome so far!
Simple to use. Didn't even bother with the instructions. Heats up FAST! Timed with the stop watch on my phone, it brought 8 ounces of 60 degree tap water to a boil in just under 1 minute and 21 seconds. That would normally take right around 3 minutes in the microwave. This was accomplished using the 5.7 duxtop cooking pot that came with it as part of the set we purchased. I learned everything I was hoping to learn from two videos that "Avid Amateur" posted on YouTube about his Duxtop. His follow-up video after 10 months of almost daily use after purchase sealed the deal for me. Nice guy, very thorough and informative. This is one review I'll certainly update if things go differently, but right now? I'm very pleased with the results.

Comes to a boil fast!
The 1800 watts boils water quickly. Overall it functions very well. Update: I’ve owned the Duxtop several years now. It runs hot. Lower temperature settings just take longer to come to a boil. It doesn’t “ “simmer” or “keep warm”. A fried egg quickly gets a brown edge. It’s hard to keep eggs “tender”. Friends who have full size induction cooktops are not satisfied with the limited temperature control. Don’t buy it if you want it for omelets or other foods where you need critical temperature control. It’s still good for most of my needs. It does Hard boil eggs well.

Très bon produit - très satisfaite
J'utilise beaucoup les produits Duxtop et j'ai toujours été entièrement satisfaite. Ça vaut la peine d'investir dans un modèle de 1800w de qualité.
