Yellow Out Swimming Pool Chlorine Shock Enhancing Treatment - 4 lbs.

this product really works on pools that get a greenish tint with light green alge starting on the walls. I was out of town for 3 weeks and it must have rained 12 inches while I was gone. The person watching the house told me the pool was looking suspicious so I told them to dump some shock in it; I was getting back in a few days. The pool was turning green and there was some light algae on the walls that wouldn't brush off. I put 2 lbs. of Yellow Out in the pool and immediately followed it with 2 lbs. of shock. I followed it up with another lb. after 12 hours. the next day the green tint was gone as well as the algae. The pool was a little murky; it took a couple of days for the filter to clean it up; I had to backwash once during the cleanup to get it back to glass- clear.

This stuff works every time for algae in our pool! Whenever the water starts turning or algae shows up, this helps clear it up quickly when used with shock. It’s become a must-have pool product for us, especially during the hot summer months. Definitely recommend keeping it on hand!

I went on a vacation and my pool person had a medical emergency, no one touched the pool for 6 days. I have a huge tree over the pool, and live in AZ, temps were 110 every day. When I returned, around noon, The Pool had thousands of leaves in it, I could not see bottom, water was an iridescent green. Pretty much the nightmare I expected. But I had my secret weapon ready. I got out all the leaves I could, added 1.4 lbs of yellow out (distributed across the pools service). Let pump run at full for 5m, added 2lbs shock and went inside (trying not to look at my poor pool). By 5pm I could see the bottom, it still had a green tinge to it. I got in and got all leaves off the bottom (took over an hour). But now it was really looking better. I let pump run over night. Next morning clear water, still a little green but what a difference. I back washed about noon. Added clarifier and another pound of shock. By 5pm it was 99% perfect. I felt so much better. This stuff is like an alge eraser when used with shock. I try to always keep it on hand, just in case a problem arises.

Followed instructions on the container. It seemed to work as advertised. What I don't understand is I had high chlorine on purpose and this eats up your chlorine. Instructions are to lower your chlorine to 2-2.5 ppm, then you have to shock like crazy to get it back up to normal after (6 bags - said add 3 at 12 hours with my size pool) and recheck. Seems like I wasted another $15 in shock than if I left my chlorine high since it was going to consume it. I didn't see a number to call and ask. Yellow algae residue still dropping out for another 2 days after the treatment. I have a sand filter, cleaned in advance, new sand this May (this treatment 10/5). It does mention you may have to manually vacuum which I did not. This was a better price than the local pool store.

There was an yellow algae bloom in my pool and each time I swept the bottom of the pool it's like sand floating around. After 24 hours of dumping in this stuff the water became super clear and all the algae was removed. Now I did accidently used twice the recommended concentration, but it's wiped out all the algae. Maybe I didn't need to use as much as I did, but now it'll be hard to convince me to used a diluted amount.

First off, bypass this product and buy United Chemicals Yellow Treat. Not only does it cost less, but you'll use a lot less. Oh and for the record, I wouldn't wish this situation on anyone except my ex. So my story began in the middle of May after the pool had been open for two months, gotta love the south. I visited my local pool store to tell them that my deep end was green (photo #1) and I couldn't see the bottom.....and so the nightmare begins. The associate told me that the water was balanced and all I needed to do was "Shock the heck out of it". That's $300 of awful advice. See picture #2 to see what the result is after shocking the heck out of yellow (mustard) algae. Return to pool store and got my guy. I showed him pictures and he let our a slow breath and said I had mustard algae and that it is resistant to chlorine so shocking it obviously did nothing. Obviously, thanks for that....another couple 100 dollars later and he issues Yellow Out with a set of directions. The nightmare continues. Treated it that night and the next day I see stuff on the bottom and it kind of changed color (picture #3) but still not quite there. I was told to continue brushing the entire pool to the main drain and if my arms and back weren't hurting I needed to brush again. Finally I was seeing progress after a WEEK of brushing (picture #4). The water was clearing and I was feeling good about my success. Not so fast! We of course had to leave town for beach vacay (I know first world problems) and while we were away I slowly watched my pool turn green on the Ring camera. Each day worse and worse. Now I'm crying. Turns out the pump quit on day two and my robot vacuum was just sitting in a mass of green spreading the blossoms through the top fan to the entire pool (Bring back photo #2). Order new pump, week delay, no pump=no circulation. That week sucked. Ordered more Yellow Out and repeated the process after installing the new pump. Got the water clear, broke my back scrubbing and of course the blooms come back in the SAME spot. Now I'm crying, sweating and about to give up. I've watched every YouTube video and read everything I could. What was I doing wrong??????? So I noticed that Amazon recommended for you included Yellow Treat and it had a different chemical...what did I have to lose at this point. Oh and I highly recommend if something touched your water throw it away, if you can't throw it away, ie. robot vacuum, bleach the crap out of it. Bleach is different than chlorine FYI. Yellow Treat arrives, only needed three capfuls and super shock. Next day it looked like shock laying at the bottom of the pool, so instead of brushing I went straight hand vacuum to waste. That's right manually vacuuming the pool. UGH! Which means a lot of refilling the pool. Water is clear and more white stuff at the bottom next day. This was repeated through the week with less and less white showing only I wasn't going to come up short this time. Three more capfuls, a touch more shock, manually vacuum and boom, DONE!!! Water is blue and the robot is back in the pool doing its job. I will maintain it with No Mor Problems and continue my regular routine. This situation cost so much money. More than 2 grand if you include the new pump. I just believe Yellow Out wasn't doing it for my situation. For those of you that gave it tons of stars have at it. I'm a Yellow Treat from this day forth, although hoping I'll never need it again.

Works Great if you follow instructions. I have had a poll for many years and had to use this several times. The first time I ever used this product it seemed to make things worse and i was very upset to say the least. I hired a pool company to fix and do my clean up, on their third visit they used Yellow Out. To my surprise it worked for them. What they did that I didn't: FOLLOWED the directions. I have used this at least three times now with great success, because I follow the instructions now. I highly recommend this product or GREEN OUT (same stuff).
