Doesn't go to eleven, but still a great speaker
Some of the other reviews are right that this speaker doesn't get all that loud in the grand scheme of things. If you want to fill a good sized room with noise, this isn't your speaker. If, on the other hand, you want to listen to music at a normal volume (even over a noisy shower, where I listen a lot), you can't do a whole lot better than the GGMM speaker for the money.I did a lot of research before buying this speaker, and I'm very happy with it. In my opinion, it's almost perfect. One of the most important criteria for me was Airplay compatibility. We use Apple devices in my house, and Bluetooth just doesn't get it done. With purely Bluetooth speakers, I'd have to tell my wife to turn off her phone's Bluetooth so it would let me connect to the speaker. I purely HATE that. Airplay, on the other hand, doesn't require I go in and turn anything off. I play music, then when I'm done I stop and someone else can start immediately without me having to do anything on my phone, iPad, or computer to allow them access. That is the way we wanted to use our speakers (we now have two GGMM speakers, this one and the M3).Design-wise, I love the GGMM look. They spend a little more on the fit and finish than your average company, which is definitely reflected in the price. However, given the feature set (Airplay, specifically), I don't have a lot of complaints about the price. I have a few $20-30 Bluetooth speakers, most of which have been given to me or I've picked up at Meh.com. They sound horrible. They look horrible. Their connectivity is mostly horrible. I was ready for something better, and the GGMM fit the bill. I'd give it five stars if it wasn't for two little niggles:1) Maximum volume - it just doesn't go *quite* high enough. I want about ~5-10% more volume available at the top end. I don't need to fill the aforementioned room with sound, but just give me a little bit more.2) Controls - there is a useless "Bass Boost" button on the speaker. Why anyone would want more bass out of a smallish speaker like this is beyond me. You're never going to get real bass out of a ~3" driver. Not the kind of bass I get out of my home theater system's dual 8" woofers in each floor standing speaker. I don't need more bass in an already slightly bass-heavy speaker. Instead, give me a next and previous track button, so I don't have to find my phone to change tracks.I've heard, owned, or borrowed gear from just about every major audio maker. Bose, JBL, Klipsch, Sony, et cetera. The GGMM doesn't sound perfect, but it sounds great. It may not go to eleven, but it's a wonderful speaker that looks good and sounds good. That's all I can ask for $130.

Great speaker, very surprised
I am a Bose guy and have been for years. I saw this speaker and read some reviews and at the time it was on a huge discount so I thought what the heck. I was very surprised when it arrived and I opened the box to find this beautiful speaker wrapped in very fine leather. I paired it up and was blown away by the sound coming from this, what I thought was going to be a return actually. I took my Bose Soundlink and put it beside this M4 and after turning the bass down some, it actually filled the room with better sound than my Bose. I have a Bose Wave Radio also and did the same thing with it, and I got the same results as the first time. The M4 is very nice. This is a great speaker and I highly recommend buying this, at least to give it a chance because it is amazing how much quality sound comes out of this little speaker box. The bonus is you can unplug and take it with you. It's a little bass heavy for my taste right out of the box, but a simple adjustment and you get a very high quality sound machine. I will look to buy another when my need arises.

Nice speaker, great battery life decent sound
Overall is a good speaker, having the option to work on batteries is a plus for sure, we are using it constantly in our backyard now. The Bluetooth connection seems to works fine for us, no major issues switching between wife's android phones or mines.I am a musician and to be honest I am very picky with sound quality, IMO this speaker sounds average, I have some friends that are impressed with the Bass.... for me that only bass is not the whole story. This speaker is good in the lows and ok in the middles. The highs or definition is very poor. I have tested connected with cables to avoid the Bluetooth compression but still the sound is not as full as our old Bose speaker. It sounds better with an equalizer but then the middles get very stressed and it sounds crunchy rather than clear. Of course, it varies depending of the type of music you play, analog recordings sounds better than digital ones. From Bluetooth connection also is not very loud. for background music in a room is Good, but it won't 'blast' your tunes if you need that. For the price, this speaker is worth the investment, construction is premium, it looks great, not too heavy or too light so it won't bounce around or it won't be pulled by the wind.Overall I guess for general use this is a good speaker, if you would like something that has a better quality in all frequencies, you'll need to look into a Bose or Sonos.

Wouldn't buy again
So I bought this speaker mainly for the Wi-fi capability. Unfortunately the music keeps cutting in and out when I'm on wi-fi. I have tried putting the speaker right beside my router and putting my iPhone right beside it as well but still no luck. For that reason it gets a 1star. The auxiliary and bluetooth functionality work well and the sound is decent but if I was choosing a wireless speaker for this price I would go with something else (and if I wanted wi-fi, I should have stuck with Bose or Sonos)

Great but the sleep mode feature is dumb.
Awesome speaker although a little disappointed that it goes into sleep mode after 30 minutes when it's not being used when it's connected to the power supply. If it's hooked up to a power source, I should not have to physically turn it on. It should only sleep when it's using the internal battery.

Nice speaker
The sound quality of this speaker is very impressive. Once I pressed play, my music filled my room with rich sounds and strong bass. The bass quality is fine with the default setting, but the bass boost button gives it a nice boom! The speaker has the standard Bluetooth connectivity; however, it also has something that most speakers don’t have and that is the ability to connect via Wi-Fi. Users can use that to play music wirelessly without constantly pairing and unpairing to switch devices among different users. Wi-Fi also provides a bigger range because the song wouldn’t cut off unless you leave the same Wi-Fi connection. With Bluetooth, the music will start cutting off once the user steps out the range. This unit surely has superb sound performance and the retro design looks sweet.

Awesome Spotify Connect Device!
I purchased the M4 since it's pretty much the ONLY portable speaker that works with Spotify Connect. The competition (Libratone Zipp) costs twice as much and also has very poor ratings for their Android app. I was blown away by the quality of sound for this small speaker. Yes, there are no tweeters so the highs are a bit lacking, but the rest of the range is very clear and the bass is still punchy without any distortion like some of the other non-Spotify Connect speakers that I looked at (i.e. JBL, UE). It doesn't get as loud as some competitors, but it's also doesn't distort the sound which is more important for me. I think the closest sound this comes to is the new Bose portable speaker, which is well over twice the price!I did need to upgrade the firmware via the GGMM app in order to get Spotify Connect to find my speaker, but after that it's been perfect. The only thing I wish that this had since I'm using this primarily outside by the pool is some level of waterproofing or water-resistance. But given the quality and price tag on this speaker, I'm definitely considering buying a second one so that I can have stereo sound!

Beware of connectivity issues. - UPDATED
I previously commented how I had a lot of connectivity issues with the speaker. I was contacted within a few hours of my comment by two separate GGMM representatives to help me with my issue. After following their direction, I am now able to connect via bluetooth and wifi again. The support was awesome. The speaker sounds great too! The only concern at the moment is whether I'll be easily able to connect again and again. It seemed as though things were finicky before when I tried. I'll report back soon but as of right now, I'm very pleased with the sound and the support from GGMM!Colleen
