The little grain holder easily goes from jar to jar
The lid keeps things out of my kefir. The little grain holder easily goes from jar to jar. I like that if the kefir grows to big, it grows outside the holder and when I pour the kefir into the blender the extra grains just go with it. No separating the grains when you get too much of them :)

I like the strainer lid
Very pleased with the strainer lid. I like being able to clean it and reuse it versus using cheesecloth and throwing it away. The container sounded like a good idea, but it's too small for my kefir grains and not enough surface area of the grains is exposed to the milk. Might work for someone that has a very small amount of grains.

Not really any help for its intended purpose
I thought these items were going to make it so much easier to strain kefir every day. This hasn't been the case for me. The straining lid doesn't let the liquid pour out. You would have to prop it upside down a long time, and even then, I don't know that it would all drain out. Then there is the issue of the little straining basket for keeping your kefir grains contained. The holes are fine for some of the larger grains, but I have found that the smaller grains go through the holes and still have to be strained out of the kefir, adding yet another step to the daily process. I will continue to use the lid to provide ventilation, but have gone back to using a nylon mesh strainer to separate the grains from the kefir. What would really be great is a mesh strainer made into a dome lid, so you could turn the container over, remove the lid, and have the grains contained in that done mesh lid.

Meh...
The basket for the kefir grains is some-what useful, you can easily transfer it from batch to batch, but you still have to strain the kefir to get out the lose grains. As for the lid, I bought it to be able to strain the kefir straight from the jar, but no such luck. It just clogs and won't work that way. The only other use for the lid is to keep foreign material out, and a clean cloth or coffee filter works better than this lid for that.

Great cap and basket for kefir making
I like this item. The basket makes kefir making very easy. Definitely for milk kefir, not water. I tap it, then open and rinse my grains. I separate them a bit so they get plenty of exposure and pop it into a new jar of milk.

i like it a lot
I was expecting the kifer grannuals with the order... but i had my culture already... i like it a lot. The top is so much better than a cloth over the jar and the basket is convenient.

I just ordered my second set
I just ordered my second set because I love the first one! I would have ordered two sets at once (one for dairy kefir, one for water kefir), but the small photo makes it very hard to see clearly. Well made, great design.

Microbiota's Kefir strainer lid keeps the flies out
Kefir container and strainer lid works to contain my water grains and keeps the flies out. Would buy again but in my opinion a bit overpriced for these items.
