Dragon's Breath (Tales of the Frog Princess)

Enjoyable, written for a younger audience
Dragon's Breath is an enjoyable read, with a writing style directed towards younger kids. This is the story of a teen princess, Emma, who is learning magic and trying to get out of a betrothal. It is written in the first person, and starts off in the middle of things, which felt a bit awkward, but I realized later was because this is actually the third book in the series. It does, however, do a decent job of explaining things quickly and can be read by itself. The story is entertaining, and while the tone was lighthearted, the challenges therein were not trivial. Spells and magic are pretty juvenile, but since that is the target audience, that's not really a problem. It seems like in order to cast a spell, you just come up with a rhyming poem that demands or asks for what you want. There aren't really any rules about how the magic works or energy use or anything like that.I expected the book to be quite predictable, but it was not. The story line surprised me several times along the way.The biggest issue I had with the e-book are the many, many typos. This is unfortunately somewhat common in e-books, but that does not make it acceptable. OCR (optical character recognition) is all well and good for a cheap conversion, but it really must be accompanied by a thorough editing job.Still, I highly recommend this book to young fantasy readers (age 12 - 14) and I'm sure the rest of the series is on par.

A great story for a kid who loves magic and enchantment
My six year old daughter loves these books. I read them to her and occasionally censor the violent parts. The princess is on a quest to help turn her aunt's beloved (who was long ago turned into an otter by her grandmother) back into a human. It's one adventure after another with lots of thrilling moments.Like all the kindle versions of these books, this one has lots of typos. It looks like someone scanned this from the print format.

Dragon's Breath
I would recommend this book to all fairy tail lovers, of course to under stand this book you would have to read the first book, The Frog Princess. What I really like about this book is that it's very adventurous. The characters go on many exciting quests that you just can't wait to see what happens next.

A sequel to the Frog Princess
The novel is a sequel to the "Frog Princess," and that novel should be read first to understand the characters. Princess Emeralda, her friend Prince Eadric, and her aunt Grassina (the Green Witch) discover the ingredients needed to reverse the spell that turned the man Grassina loved into an otter. The problem is the fact that the spell requires a hair from mother-of-pearl, the husk of a magic bean, a horse feather, and the breath of a green dragon. Most of the novel deals with the adventures of Emeralda and Eadric as they go on a quest seeking the items. Along the way they acquire some dragon friends. And they need to hurry, as the army of an adjoining kingdom is preparing to invade the country. The events come out a little different than planned. Grassina is not entirely sure she still wants Haywood whom she has not seen in human form for 20 years. Emeralda's grandmother is interferring, as she has never thought Haywood was good enough for Grassina - the reason she turned him into an otter. Things become complicated because some spells have hidden features that are unknown until activated. Also, you do have to be careful what you wish for, or you may get unwanted results. As usual with fairy tales, the hero or heroine (in this case) prevail in the end.

The Feog Princess 2
